KTS+ Mech and Panasonic NCR18650PD batteries safe?

Hello Everyone,

Wanted to make my first foray into a Mechanical, so bought a budget KTS+, which just shipped today from fasttech.

I have a pair of Panasonic NCR18650PD batteries that I had been using in my SVD, and was wondering if they are safe to put into this new KTS+. I've heard that protected batteries are better, not really sure if these Panasonics are or not. I've heard of horror stories and risks when using incorrect batteries in Mechs, I want to be sure what I'm doing here is safe. Plan on building coils at 1.5ohm or more, not interested in sub-ohming for the same reasons of safety.

Advice from a veteran out there?

Install a VapeSafe fuse and enjoy.

You want to be concerned with high quality Safer Chemistry for a mechanical. Protected Batteries may shut down(trip) die to weak chip design. The protect circuits can also fail to reset and keep the battery from recharging.
