I've been looking at it with nice eyes. I can't afford anything more expensive and I like the form factor, just slightly bigger than a eGo Twist. Batts are rated at 700 mAh, but I still have several twists and vv going. I'll have to use an adapter to fit the Kanger T3, but CE3 and Phoenix should fit fine. I'd love to know if any of you have one, durability and so on. Thanks!

A friend of mine had one for a couple of weeks and just ordered a Silver Bullet with a Kick due to disappointment (recognize that is out of your immediate price range - more the issue that he felt he had to get something else). I'll direct him here to provide specific issues and feedback once he gets his new account up and running.

I looked at these about a month ago. Depends upon your expectations for this device.

I had been using my Provari with the 18650 extension cap exclusively. Although I love it to death, it is quite hefty and not particularly pocket-friendly. I longed for a smaller, lighter, variable voltage mod that used replaceable batteries for outside the house and perhaps stealth vaping at work.

I looked at the eGo 14500 - too long for my tastes. I looked again at a Mini Provari - I couldn't justify another $200 + batteries at that point in time...maybe in April for my 1 year vape anniversary.

I looked at the Robust. Nice size, not too long, looked light in the hand, probably pocket-friendly, used replaceable rechargeable batteries, decent price. Then I read the reviews:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/variable-voltage-apv-discussion/353226-another-14500-vv.html

I came to the conclusion that the tiny 14500 IMR battery just isn't powerful enough to give variable voltage a fair shake in this device. If you really like the form factor, don't plan to use low resistance coils or use voltages over 5v, and don't mind the short battery time (3-4 hours?) this might be a nice little APV for your purposes.

I went with a Smoktech V.V. Gripper instead. Just $50. It fit all of my requirements, and the fact that it uses the same 18650 imr battery as the extended Provari is a big plus factor to me. It fires hotter than the voltage that I set, but I expected that before I purchased it and I set my voltage accordingly to compensate. I use it exclusively now for work and when out-and-about. It's about the size of a small pack of cigs and fits easily in a shirt pocket.

Good luck with your search. :thumb:

I have one and liked it at 1st for it's size and shape (the square one). The 14500 batteries really don't last too long but thought it was OK with a couple spares. Problem is now it's erroring with my carto tanks when they work on other batteries. Seems to be related to the discussions on here about it not really being able to handle higher volts to accomodate cartos/attys above say 2.4 ohm. At this point I decided I couldn't trust it and ordered the "kicked" Silver Bullet (as my friend Jacoji mentioned earlier). You will like the APV's, they are the best vape experience (with carto tanks in my opinion) and if you're going to "go there", it's better to save your money and use EGO twists or standard EGO's with low res cartomizers/clearomizers until you can afford to get a good one than buy so many cheaper less quality items along the way.

I have a regular non-A Robust. I don't recommend it, the batteries don't last long. I don't think it's a problem with the batteries themselves. They are rated at 650 mAh but I don't feel like I get anywhere near 650 mAh worth of vaping out of them. My other PV takes 700 mAh batteries and it lasts three times longer on a fresh battery. Maybe the voltage conversion circuit is really inefficient on the Robust, I don't know.

I have the Rider and I love it actually. It might be worth noting though that I've been using the Mako since 2009 and this is my first VV. however, I use it constantly and my battery life is about 10 hours per charge. That's me with the device in my hand for 10 hours. I currently using attys that are 2.8 ohms vaping at 4.2 volts For a 10.4 watt sweet spot. The clearomizer fitting doesn't seem to leak at all and I'm very pleased with it.

Glad to hear that you are happy with your Robust.

The higher resistance attys you're using at under 5 volts are likely less of a power drain on the 14500 imr batteries. In hindsight, I likely would have been happy with the Robust instead of the Gripper I chose over it. I let the negative reviews influence me, in particular using this device with lower resistance attys and higher voltage than 5 volts, which should not have had that much influence on me as I use neither. I was worried that the 14500 batteries might be inadequate for the demand that variable voltage would place on them.

As I alluded to in my initial post, your experience shows that if the device and battery are not constantly pushed to their limits, satisfaction with the Robust will be determined by how it is used.

Same here, and considering the same exact thing hahah
