Most of us collect something -- teapots, s&p shakers etc. I collect pineapples (they're the symbol of hospitality, which is a big deal in my family) -- wood, metal, glass, jewelry, you name it. I also collect an odd one -- I LOVE flying pigs!!! :) Or pig angels -- whatever you want to call them! They're harder to find, but I'm building a pretty good collection!

Tell us about YOUR collection!!

I have a thing for porcelain dolls. I also collect flags of all types, mainly country flags and US battle flags. Military insignia and medals, especially those with paperwork on who they belonged to (and have, in fact, tracked down some families who had their loved ones medals returned, I'm big on that). And I know I'll probably take a beating for saying it, but I collect guns, especially WWII service rifles from various countries. Not all of them work, but most of them do.

I collect Avon bottles, small glass figures (especially the little hand blown ones that are made at fairs and carnivals), VW memorabilia, and postcards. The postcard collection was started by my mom when she was a child, and she split it between my sister and me. I also collect the small carousel horses/music boxes. For some reason I like the stuff that attracts dust and is hard to dust, lol. I also have three collections of glass plates, from different generations - little china plates handpainted with flowers from a great-great aunt, Audobon bird plates from my husband's grandmother, and Thomas Kincaide cottage platss that I collected.

Wolf, the WWII service rifles sound like they fit in perfectly with the military theme you have going on with the other items you collect, so you won't get a hard time from me. I like the combination of porcelain dolls and military!

Wow... since I was 3 yeaars old I have collected mice. I have ceramics, porcelain, brass, silver, and crystal ones to say some of the mediums. Several hundred now (27 years!)

My husbands grandmother got me started on nutcrackers. Tea pots / sets from my grandmother. Recipes ...... 15 5 inch thick 3 ring binders of those. Most had to be preserved in lamination they were falling apart so badly. Tree ornaments from my grandparents and mother.

Fido jars and just about any old canning object you can think of (I just got 18 blue glass bail top canning jars from my husbands cousins after their mom died (his great aunt.)

Metal any kind that I can melt down and turn into rings to make chainmaille or jewelry from. GLASS! LOTS OF GLASS! I love making glass beads when I can afford the oxygen/ acetylene gases for my torch.... so my friends save me all their glass bottles and bring them over...

Camping gear... swords armor and anything medieval.

Ugh. Maybe I need to go on hoarders haha! Everything is in 2 larch train cargo containers out on our property that we use as storage here.

Pictures too Lol. My house has become picture depot for my family.

I dunno pretty much everything is sentimental to me though. Stuff given by family as they passed on or presents.

Maybe I don't need to visit the hoarders show after all. And yeah that's only a partial list!

COOL!! You ladies have some really cool collections! Moondragon, noticed the carousel horses -- my sister collects rocking horses and they're awesome, but I've always liked the carousel horses better (don't tell her -- shhhhhh!;)). Serianna, you sound like me and I've wondered if I needed to go on Hoarders! Wolf, my stepdad (who raised us) was a WWII vet and former POW. His weapon was confiscated by the Germans when he was captured, but he later obtained an authentic WWII M1 and I have it now. DH was SUPER close to him -- they had become best friends -- so we both TREASURE it!!

I forgot to mentioned my collection of vintage hats, tho I stopped collecting -- that's another one that was starting to cost too much $$!

I can't believe I forgot the nutcracker collection. I have been collecting nutcrackers since I was a baby, our family tradition is a new one every year for my birthday. But it has gotten out of hand. Everyone I know buys them for me now, so it sort of killed our family tradition. I'm 32 years old, so I should have 32 nutcrackers... nope! I have 57 nutcrackers!

It cracks my mother up... I've run out of room in my bedroom, so I have ammo for the WWII guns (believe it or not, a lot of the ammo is also WWII surplus) in these big wicker baskets, and there are stuffed animals on top of it all. LOL! And I'm a real hit at the firing range when I walk out there in a Hello Kitty shirt with a big pink flower in my hair and my bright pink ear muffs and then I pull out these rifles most of the guys don't even want to be in the same building as, let alone attempt to shoot. But the good part is that I have developed a reputation in the area for "where old dead rifles go to get CPR." I've gotten a lot of these old guns restored and back out on the line, mostly for military family members who want to get grandpa's service pistol cleared of rust and restored so they have something to remember him by... or, like in two cases, so he can see it one last time as it was and feel like a kid again for a few minutes. Plus in a way it is like restoring and preserving history. So many people cut the stocks and all this other weird stuff, it's nice to keep some as they were for future generations to see.

long time ago i used to collect angel things? Then moved on to rosters?lol? But not to much. But if i did get something it had to go with my decor of my home?I have always liked antiques though.but at present i collect seeds and perennials(plants)since i have the room to plant.(don't know if that's a good or bad thing?)and since i got into woodworking i have been into tools?my hub likes that?lol.oh cant forget about those darn dust bunnies that some how i don't try to collect?lol.

Wolf, I think that's WONderful!! When Papa died and for many years before, the two things he was most proud of were his business (they owned their own) and his military service! And nothing he liked better than to talk about his service -- like most WWII vets, he took great pride in that and his related memorabalia (sp?), so returning that stuff to the families, etc. is a great thing to do!

Chickadee, you just have more style than I do -- flying pigs don't go with ANY type of decor!

Hi Rachel, and Welcome!!! :) I have a neighbor who collects wolves, too, and they have some cool stuff!

I'm working on figuring out how to post pics of my piggies -- hopefully I'll get it worked out.

Moondragon, I'd love to see the place! There's a BBQ place we pass now and again that's called The Purple Pig and their sign is a HUGE purple flying pig!! I COVET that pig, but I don't want DH or me to go to jail, so I've restrained myself!
