This is sort of an off the wall subject, but it's a subject that is dear to my heart.
I always thought that little old ladies and their pampered dogs were kind of funny.......until I became one. After my grandson was a stillborn and of course I was out there in Colorado for his funeral and support for my son, I got home and felt like I needed a puppy to love and shower affection upon. I'd been a cat person most of my life and I had one at that time. I wanted a snuggly puppy. I needed a 'baby' something. I thought about a Yorkie, but a dear friend of mine, who died a little over a year ago, talked me into looking into a Maltese. Yorkies are in the terrier family and can be quite hyper. Thats not what I was looking for. I live in a city/town under 50,000 and couldn't find one here. Thats where the internet came in handy. My husband was against it and that was the only time I went against what he said. I knew what I needed, and I had to have one. Well, I finally found one about 80 miles away from here, but I didn't have the money. So, my folks bought her for me. Since I'm supposed to be a direct descendant of the french king Charlamane on my mother's side, I wanted a boy. I found a female only. So I named her Sharlamane. Well, things were not running smooth in our house until my husband began to appreciate her. After that, everyone that met Sharli fell in love with her and wanted one! She behaved beautifully at the nursing home my daddy was living in at the time, and everyone there wanted one.
Even after all this time has passed, I still hate leaving her home when I have to go out. My mom always said that when it's Sharli's time, it'll kill me too. Would I get another one? Only the Lord knows.
Now, this is what the Lord has taught me through Sharli. She is so devoted to me, just like the Lord. Even if I'm away for only a few minutes, she is so happy to see me....just like the Lord. She loves me unconditionally....just like the Lord. Her love for me is the closest example of the love of the Lords. She has taught me so much about the Lord's love, and I am sorry, feline friends, but my kitty cats never taught me this. Cats can get into snitty behavior and can hold a grudge. After I got Sharli, I never got another cat after the one I had died. She was 17 years old, and I loved her dearly.
Now, after all that ground work, do you think our 4 legged friends will be in Heaven with us? There are 2 reasons I think they will. 1) If their presence in Heaven will make us happy, they will be there. 2) The soul is where the personality comes from. Each critter has a personality. Sharli's personality and Angel's (my husband's Maltese....yeah we have his and hers Maltese babies) are different.....just like people. Souls are eternal. Wouldn't it make sense that they would be there? We know horses are in Heaven. Jesus rides one at the 2nd Coming and so do we that come with him. I don't believe that Jesus drives a Cadillac out of Heaven. Scripture says 'horse,' and I take that literally.
What say you? What are your thoughts on the subject?
