I would say that regardless of alcohol content most DIYs need at least a little time with the caps off.
I made some mixes using CAP Cake Batter over a month ago ( 1 - 6% ) and despite the long steeping time, when I tried the juices they were pretty nasty, they had some kind of 'permanent marker pen' smell to them.
After leaving a mix with 3% Cake Batter (12% Vanilla Custard 3% Cake Batter) breathing for 24hrs it was all good. The 6% mix took a little longer to mellow out (around 48hrs).
So anyway, the moral of the story is to let it breathe if*:
a) it doesn't taste 'right' when tested.
b) it has alcohol in.
c) it smells like a permanent marker pen.
*all subject to taste sensitivity of course
How did you find the 12% Vanilla Custard 3% Cake Batter did over time. I mixed the same formula as you and found it good right away but it got far to strong over time. After 2 months it's so over powering I can't vape it anymore. I haven't found the time to dilute it yet but it needs at least a 33 - 50% dilution.

also double ewe in my vanilla custard i use 10% custard and 2% sweet cream both by capella and after 2-4 week steep it is really nice.. using 60/40 pg/vg and 6-12mg nic vaping using a cloupor mini with an aerotank v2 at 9-10 watts
I made 30ml of this, so at the moment it not fully matured. The main taste is a sort of cakey/bready vanilla (with a very light creaminess) rather than a rich custard with cake notes. It still has a slight acrid note (the marker pen smell - acetone?) which comes through as an aftertaste.
The colour is 'morning urine' (roughly pantone 137U), so, I don't think it has reached it's full potential yet.
Usually I think around 9% Vanilla Custard is a good percentage if that is to be the main flavour, but I made this one stronger as I plan to use it in tanks rather than RDAs. So, I guess you are right with your need for dilution.
Are you dripping yours? What colour is it after the two months? (and how many ml did you make of it)
also danny what PG/VG ratio and Nic level are you using?..
To me, the steeping time of DIY is by far the hardest and most frustrating. Having to wait weeks or months to tell if a mix you've made is any good just stifles creativity. I truly wish there was a way around it.
I've both dripped and filled a kayfun and got pretty much the same result. I made 60ml's which started out an amber color like yours and it's now a dark brown color. It's an overly sweet very strong and syrupy vanilla custard taste and I can not detect the cake note any longer. Vaping this stuff for a short period of time gets sickening quite quickly, A kinda maple syrup is great on pancakes but not so good drinking it right from the bottle kinda thing.
I'll check the link out. I've read a lot in the past about speed steeping. Everything from hot water baths, ultrasonic devices, sitting bottles on a warm DVD player or plate warmer, and even microwaves. Everyone seems to have their own theories on what's best, and on what is doing damage\changing the taste in a negative way. There are many ways to speed up steeping. Read this.

i actually tried this and it works!! haha did it on a 40 degrees wash with full spin power activated hahaToss it in a zip lock baggy and run it thru a few loads of darks in the washing machine then don't touch it for a few days. Good to go.![]()
