Well it is Friday afternoon before a 3 day weekend so naturally the clock is dragging. So my question is this. How many reactions have you had when out in public with a larger mod such as an SVD or Vamo, etc? My SVD generally stays at home and I take my Bolt and K100 out. But I think I am going to take my SVD out this weekend just to see how many light saber comments I get. So...any funny stories to distract me from the clock?

Hahaha, same here, I think time is standing still. It depends on the crowd. Was at the Houston Beer Festival a couple of months ago and there was a ton of vapers. So no big deal. But normally I get alot of double takes and an occasional comment about drug paraphernalia, those are getting old quick.

I vape exclusively on a vamo v2 in 18650 mode in public and while I do get some strange looks I rarely get 'harrased' by anti smokers over it. More often than not I get the cig-alike crowd asking me 'what the hell is that' as an icebreaker. I love watching a blue vapors face when they take a hit of HHV Legend off my vamo. It's like a whole other world for them.

I went to a little Vape store here in town just to check it out and there were several customers buying eGo starter kits. They were very impressed with my Bolt. They asked where I got it and how much I spent. The young lady behind the counter actually looked down because I think she knew how ridiculously overpriced the shop was. I told them and the looks on their faces was priceless. I felt bad for the counter lady.

I've been using a full size Provari with a glass cartotank out in public for over a year now. Never get any reactions. I take it to professional sporting events, outdoor concert events, and festivals. I might get a thumbs up or a "woo hoo" from an individual, but I'm not sure if they even know what I'm using, if you know what I mean?

I've not come across any other vapors out-in-the-wild yet, but if there are they may not be as bold as I. AltSmoke just opened a B & M a few months ago and for their grand opening there were 150 vapors present with all sorts of mods. I'm certain as time goes on I'll see more vapors openly displaying their eGo's and mods out in public.

Basically you cant smoke indoors in Houston or within 25 feet of business entrances so I adhere to those rules as to not upset the ignorant. Occasionally I will see a vaper in the smoking around like me. But I think its not as big here yet as some other places. Hard to tell tho. We don't really have much in the way of vape shops either but I'm sure they are coming.

Haven't been accused of being a Jedi yet but now that you say it a ProVari does look a little like a light sabre. My office's "smoking" area is on a retaining wall off the sidewalk on a 3 lane main road. I have seen dozens of people break their necks looking at my mod. Had one guy in a pickup waving his big tanked mod and smiling as he drove past.

Since the Houston Chronicle ran an information article on vaping earlier this week I expect a bit more future recognition and have had at least one curious question.

I have gotten in the habit that when I get out of my car in a parking lot and see some poor sucker standing in the hot sun suffering while sucking on an analog to take 3 or 4 obvious puffs off my PV where they can see me do it.

I also ask the waitresses at restaurants if they mind and I have fun vaping in line at the grocery.....

I'm finding that since I've switched from my eGo battery to 18xxx mods, I get less questions about whether its paraphernalia and more about why it's so big. I think there's something about a mod that's so conspicuous that makes it seem less likely that I'm smoking unmentionables from it.

Example: I was sitting and grabbing a vape in the only piece of shade where I can sit before work the other day (happens to be fairly close to the entrance to a dentist's office), and some firemen passed by. They looked over at me, and I was totally expecting to be asked to move somewhere else.

"Grabbing a smoke?"
"No, sir. Grabbing a vape [smile]."
"Right on!" they smiled back and just went on their way.

Very cool. I think it took them a moment to digest what I was doing, but they smelled no skunk or ciggie, so I guess they felt that the whole 20 ft thing didn't apply. Win :)

I'm finding that where I live, people are pretty accepting of vaping in public--I've yet to receive any negative attention. People see clouds and are initially a little leery, but then fruit/bakery smells hit them, and they tend to relax. It certainly helps that there are a number of restaurants and bars where I work that are vaper friendly, so people are definitely seeing us vaping in public, and indoors to boot.

It's just too bad that I don't actually see more vapers out and about here. I used to ride motorcycles, and it was kinda customary to wave when you saw another motorcyclist, regardless of what they were on. A quick "howdy, nice bike," if you happened to pull up next to another one at the light, and a "ride safe" before taking off. I imagine that that's what it must be like to run into another vaper in the wild, except you can actually chat for a bit. Can't wait :)
