Laser diode array

There's someone on YouTube who does a lot of home made laser stuff and he uses a 405nm laser in all of his projects. They are powerful enough to nearly instantly light a match. After looking into the site he suggests you get the diode from, I DID find the 808nm diode for $70, free shipping. They have driver circuits and all there.
1 watt 808nm laser diode 1000mW

Probably easiest to get that guy to test to see if he can get vaporization.

ihave seen people use blue ray lasers and turn them into burning lazers they cant do much more than pop a baloon or light a match but they are prety cool you tube "blue buring laser" i think it would be prety sweet

I beg, anyone who is wanting to do any sort of work with lasers to get proper eye protection, and to carefully consider how you might test. Even though you may see little or no light your retinas may be frying, even if the beam is reflected or diffused from a surface. These are class four lasers and should be dealt with soberly and with consideration.

I'm really wanting to put some more time into this research however I think the holidays are taking over. I'm not certain on anything at this point. On top of everything, we are still dealing with fallout from a huge system upgrade at work...

I've got some bids in on 1-2 watt 808nm diodes right now , I also have a guy who can make most things in Pyrex glass for testing . There is a lot of 25 diodes at various wavelenghts that I am looking at also.

PS: I'm buying some laser goggles as well !!!

I just won the bid for 25 of these assorted laser diodes 635-1096 nm between 1-2 watts each for testing this idea

Well I am going to run with my design of a laser diode atty and see what happens. I'll be using a 100mw green diode. My design it a lot like the one drawn on this page with a few differences. If it works, I'll let you all know.

good luck with the green laser , I dont think 250mw will do it tho! , I figure at least 1watt is needed , the typical atty runs @ 5-10 watts
