I received my VV Box this morning and have been messing with it all day. It is more solid than I expected. It seems well built and it operates just as advertized. The door slides off a little too easily, but I'll fix that with a couple of magnets. The grey ultrafire 14500s I have performed better than I expected, but I'll probably need to have more than a couple of sets of them. Two pairs of batteries wasn't nearly enough to get through the day (partly because I was playing with the "new toy" all day... but battery life is always a concerning issue for me because there are a lot of 18 and 20 + hour workdays in my life)
After screwing around with it all day, here is what i discovered: I have matched attys and cartos perfectly to 3.7v, 4.8v ni-mh, 5.0v, and 6.0v. All of the devices I use at any of those voltages, I ended up dialing in pretty close to the same on the VV. -
Examples:
My 2.0 ohm boge cartos work and taste great at 4.3/4.4 load volts with the 4.8v ni-mh. When I was dialed in to temp and flavor, the VV read 4.3.
My dual coils with juices I like at 4.3/4.4 load volts and would normally also vape with a 4.8v ni-mh - same story. When i was dialed in, it was just under 4.5v.
My dual coils with juices I like on a 5.0v regulated... dialed in on the vv, I was at 4.9.
My 2.0 ohm cisco attys I like from 3.2 to 3.6 load volts - dialed in was almost exactly 3.5.
etc etc etc. The spectrum of resistance I use in attys, CE2's, and cartos for different batteries and PVs I have all ended up being very, very close dialed in on the VV to how I would have used them on another PV (almost all of them within a tenth of a volt or so). The juices I like in those devices same story...
What I learned is that the effort I've put in to matching attys and cartos to batteries was worth it. I've done a good job figuring out what I like and what works.
I like this little VV box quite a bit and I will be using it. I am, however, really glad I didn't spring for any of the 'fancy' hundred to two-hundred + dollar VV mods. I'm not saying I never will buy such a thing, but at least until the 80 + cartos and couple of dozen attys I have on hand are all used up, I'm in no hurry to jump in to something like that.
So, I let this VV idea creep in to my head for the last few months. I kept saying that I wasn't going to drink the VV koolaid just yet. But, I let the thought work at me until I just had to try it. Luckily, madvapes was there to save me a lot of money. My rewards points made this a $20 purchase and I really am pleased with it. I really can't say I'd be nearly as happy if I would have spent a couple of hundred to discover that I'll be using the device to perform the exact same tasks my existing devices already accomplish.
Thanks Hoog! I know a truck driver whose route takes him near you every two or three months. - You're not in a dry county are you?
