MATH FAIL! So, I'm trying to figure out if I can stretch my teenyweeny freezer space to do at least a minimally safe stockpile amount, and I'm having trouble visualizing what I need. I vape at 3mg (and occasionally under), though occasionally make a bit stronger for my husband (6 mg). But I vape a lot (not sure how many ml, because I change tanks so much between flavors ... but maybe 6 ml a day, plus 2 ml for my husband -- so around 8 ml per day, but let's say 10 to be safe).

If I were getting 100 mg nic base, what would be a reasonable amount to stock for possible bad days ahead? (I'm in EU, and can't really tell what will happen.) I'm not usually this bad at math, but I'm feeling a bit lost.

Well, I make my eliquids at 6mg finished nic, and the neighbor's at 3mg finished nic. Out of 1L of 100mg/mL nic base, I can make the following rounded to the nearest whole 100mL bottle:

166 100mL bottles of eliquid for me at 6mg nic
OR
333 100mL bottles for the neighbor at 3mg nic

According to your approx. 6mL per day of 3mg...you'd get 16 days worth out of each 100mL bottle of eliquid. So, 16 days per bottle x 333 bottles = 5,328 days worth = 15.13 years worth of eliquid from 1L of 100mg/mL Nic base

Your husband at approx. 2mL per day of 6mg...would get approx. 50 days worth out of each 100mL bottle of eliquid. So, 50 days per bottle x 166 bottles = 8,300 days worth = 23.57 years worth from 1L of 100mg/mL Nic base

Thank you so much, guys! Based on your calculatin' I'll start with a liter, which I'm pretty sure I can shift to fit in there, and then see if I can double that, or at least add maybe another 500 ml. (How important are ice cubes, really?) :p

Just make sure you wrap it in padding and double seal it in small zip lock bags inside larger zip lock bags to avoid the possibility of leakage. It probably won't leak or get broken, but the more you pad it and seal it, the better you'll sleep over the the next few years!

Do the milligrams....
You vape about 6mls x 3 mg =18mg/day. Call that 20.
He vapes about 2 mls x 6 mg = 12 mg/day. Call that 15.
So the two of you consume 35 mg/day.

How many years' worth of nic do you want?
5 years? Thats 5 x 365 x 35mg = 63,875 milligrams. Buy that much. :)
(100 mls x 100 mg/ml = 10,000, so 6 or 7 of those)

Or, like you said, get a liter. That'll be 1000x100 = 100,000 milligrams
100K/35-per-day = 2857 days' worth (7 years 9 months ish).

Done, done, done! Pink Mule 50 pg/50 vg 100mg 500ml x2 on the way. JCinFLA it was your post about "New Shipping Regs. for 60mg & Above Nic Base ..." in US that finally made me get off my ..... I don't know if EU has plans for similar restrictions, but one thing is fairly certain: it's highly unlikely that nicotine is going to become any easier to come by, so better safe than that other "S" word. Less room for frozen spinach in my freezer, but hey, vaping before veggies!

I've never even used 100mg nic before. For me it was less worrisome to just use 36mg, in case of spills or anything (and I'll probably take a middle step of diluting the nic I use for DIY, so I won't be dealing with the high concentration every time I mix up juice). But because of regulators trying to make people ostensibly safer, we now have thousands and thousands of people with gallons and gallons of highest nic level base sitting around. SO MUCH SAFER! I foresee a lot of vaping-related retrograde as more regulations make things increasingly difficult and dangerous, from flavors to mods, and people turn to other alternatives and "roll your own" solutions for prohibited (or prohibitively expensive) items. smh.

Next up, what do I need to worry about for plain PG/VG base? Storing a ton of that would be so hard for us "small apartment" people, and no possibility at all for refrigeration.

I don't worry about pg and vg. Both are used in other applications, from farming to beauty supplies to medicine bases. They won't go away.

1 liter of of 100mg nic, has 100,000 mg of nic. 1 liter = 1,000 ml x 100 mg nic per ml = 100,000 mg. I vape 6 ml per day with 10 mg nic per ml so 100,000 mg nic / 60 mg per day = 1,666 days / 365 days = 4.56 years.

The smoke from one cigarette exposes you to 1 mg of nic. I was paying $6 a pack for cigs so I was paying 30 cents per mg. If you make a direct comparison, a 1 liter bottle of 100mg nic gives you exposure to the same amount of nic as 5,000 packs of cigarettes which cost me $30,000 paying $60 a carton. Cost of ingredients for a year of liquid for me is less than $30 compared to the $3,000 I was paying to smoke. Vaping crushes smoking because of the cost advantage. For practical purposes vaping is free.

@tazzle - When you get your nic base, it's a good idea to break it down into smaller sized glass bottles for freezer storage, for a couple reasons. First, you don't want to be taking a whole 500mL bottle out of the freezer and opening it up...each time you DIY. That would allow oxygen to get into it all, every time you open the cap. Splittiing it up into maybe 30mL - 60mL size bottles should well work for you, since you'll use so little for each batch of eliquid you'll make. Then freeze all but 1 of those smaller bottles, that you'll leave out for your DIY for awhile. That will expose only that small amount at a time to oxygen.

Second reason to break it down is that Nic Base usually comes in plastic bottles from the supplier. Most on here suggest freezing it only in glass bottles, filled to within about 1/4" from the very top of the bottle. That leaves very little headspace for oxygen to be in it.

Just thought I'd mention the above, in case you hadn't read similar stuff elsewhere on here about Nic storage. :)

It sounds like you have the Math under control now. Cool. So I'll just throw out One other thing to consider.

You don't have to have All of your Nicotine Base stored in that Teenyweeny Freezer. In fact, that might make using it kinda a Hassle.

Not sure about VG Based Nicotine Bases, but PG Based Nicotine base should be Fine for a Year or Two (probably Longer!) if it is kept in a Cool, Dark Place in a Glass Bottle. Like in the Back of a Closet. Or in a Filing Cabinet Drawer.

Thanks guys! I've been reading some of the great advice on the site, so planning on breaking it down to smaller glass bottles, and the advice about not storing all in the freezer is well taken! I actually already have quite a lot on hand right now (by my standards -- a few 100ml bottles of 36mg) in a dark cool-ish drawer, and will just continue to acquire and use nic in my regular manner as long as I can, saving the stash for emergency future-shock. You've all helped so much! I feel calmer and safer; thank you!
