LEA (Boge Tech) - Big problems with tank

Hi All,

I have been vaping less than a month and have been finding your forum the most helpful website in the confusing world of e-cigs so I was hoping one of you pros might be able to help me. I started on the Ecirette 510 and found it a fantastic way to quite smoking, so decided to treat myself to an upgrade. I decided to go with the LEA because it has no cotton (or whatever the sponge is made from) in the tank and so was advertised to have no singed flavour like my 510.

It arrived only a few days ago and I have been having loads of problems with the tank. After my 5th refill I was about halfway through the e-liquid and the airflow started to go. By that I mean it felt kind of blocked when I took a drag. A few attempted drags later it began to leak lots of fluid into my mouth... yuck!

I took it apart but couldn't see any blockages so I opened a new cartridge and put it in. Problem was solved so I put the whole thing down to bad luck as, after much googling, I couldn't find anyone else with the same complaint. Unfortunatly, when I was about one third way through my 3rd refill on this new tank, exactly the same thing happened.

I think maybe the liquid is leaking into the air chamber. Does that make any sense or am I completely mistaken. Has anyone else had this problem or am I doing something wrong? Maybe my LEA is faulty?

Please help!!!

Thanks so much

Sue

When it's working, does the draw seem excessively tight? If you don't get enough airflow through the carto you can suck excessive fluid into it flooding it.

Thanks so much for your reply.

Airflow felt fine for the first couple of refills on both Cartridges but then suddenly became very tight. After te liquid began leaking into my mouth I tried to suck very gently. The vapor felt like it was not vaporised properly as is was thick and I could feel it coat my mouth and half way through the pull the liquid leaked into my mouth anyway!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sue

It is possible to draw to hard on a carto and flood it from the tank. Try taking long, slow draws and see that resolves it.

I thought that I was taking long slow drags and never had any problem with my 510. If anything I found I didn't need to pull as hard on the LEA. At the moment I have resorted to plugging my LEA battery into a 510 cartomiser that I origionally bought to try with my Ecirette 510. I don't seem to be having any problems with that either.

I will give it a try though. I think I will have to use another new cartridge to try it though because the other two seem to be beyond repair.

Thanks again for all your help,

Sue

Well I really appreciate the effort :)

If there was not enough airflow do you know what might cause that?

I have just replaced the cartomiser with another new standard cartridge and I am going to try again as you suggested. I am taking very soft drags so I will keep you posted as to what happens over the next couple of days.

Thanks again

Sue

Air is drawn from the bottom of the carto where it is screwed into the battery. I have some tanks, Vivi Nova for one, that if screwed all the down, blocks there airflow considerably. You can tell that this is happening by taking a draw when the tank is off of the battery and again when it is screwed onto the battery.

By the way, I don't know if it is normal but I have noticed little beads of liquid in the channels on either side of the cartridge. (you can see the channels I mean on either side of the cartridge in this picture).

Maybe the vapor is condencing inside them for some reason and clogging them up. I think maybe they are supposed to stay clear as an air chamber.

I don't know if that helps.

BTW, thanks for your input Jimi

Hi Flyer,

I am not having a problem with the cartomizers. I am having problems with the standard cartridges, so they do not screw directly into the battery. I tried unplugging from the Atty and sucking and even blowing when I thought it was blocked but it didn't help.

When I suck the cartridge without the Atty attached, the airflow seems fine but a light mist of liquid still comes out into my mouth.

Thanks for all your support

Hi All,

Just an update. I have been vaping with the new cartridge since last night and I have been careful to pull very gently. I have not had any problems at all so far and airflow seems fine. I have noticed little beads of liquid starting to build up in the channels though this is not effecting my vaping so far.

I have also noticed that the two cartridges which I had to replace look slightly blackened at the mouth piece and that my new cartridge is now starting to become blackened in appearence too.

Again, I don't know if this is normal or relevant.

Thanks

Sue :)

I have a LEA also but didn't had any problems you are describing. As far as litle beeds of liquid...its normal. You can get rid of them if you put the tank under water...if thats bothering you.

I got a brown color of the tank when vaping a lot. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.

It doesn't really bother me. I just thought it might be relevant in figuring out the cause of the problem I am having. If guess if this is normal than I am still on the wrong track as to what is going on.
Thanks for your help

Sue

I've never used a "tank cartridge" (not to be confused with a "carto tank"), but have seen some folks have leaking issues after refilling a couple times. I'm not sure if it's because the little hole in the rubber end cap doesn't stay sealed or if the atty gets a little gunked and needs cleaning. That LEA is a pretty nice looking unit (I like the pen style look) and they had the foresight to make it 510 compatible so if you're having troubles with the tank cart/atty setup you can easily switch to cartomizers (I like the Boge's). Looks like a standard 3.7v batt@650mAh so something like the 2.0ohm (the atty it comes with is 2.7ohm) would probably hit really nicely.

Quick question: when plugged in does it behave like a passthrough (meaning keep charging even though you're using it)?

I have just received my BOGE LEA too and I started observing frequent leaks with the tank system. In fact, all my eliquid is leaking through the air holes at the bottom of the atomiser. I start to believe the LEA has a problem with the their tank system. I contacted Vaporium.ca for more information and get some support, but the have not yet replied. If anyone have any suggestion, please help.

Hi Cloud Wizard,

I have used a 510 cartomizer with it which worked great. I guess it's just kind of annoying that the Cartridges are not working for me because it is brand new and it doesn't seem right that I am having all these problems.
Thanks for all the tips though. I might like to try that anyway.

You can use the LEA while it is plugged in. I'm not sure if that is what you are asking

Thanks :)

Ok, so another update...
I have tried Flyer’s suggestion and have been vaping with new cartridge very carefully and gently. I have finished the first fill of e-liquid which I put into this cartridge originally, and I have refilled it once. I am now about 1/3 way through this fill of e-liquid and I can now feel a reduction in the airflow beginning again. Also, as before, the vapour has started to become thicker and more concentrated.

Unfortunately it looks like it might be happening again. I'll keep yis all posted.

Hi Vincent,

Thanks for your post. I'm sorry to hear you are having these problems too but it's nice to know I am not the only one. Maybe we got a bad batch!?!

I was considering contacting the supplier or maybe the manufacturer myself so I think I will go and do that know. Let us know if you hear anything back and I will do likewise.

Good Luck,

Sue

I have not used Lea so I can not speak of them first hand, I can tell you that leaking and hard drawing is part of what I found with the Ego-T and why I stopped using the T part of the system, if the filler is what you are concerned about from the cartos there are other options such as the stardust clearomizer, the vivi nova, reg cearomizers and they even make some cartos that do not have the filling they are made like clearos
