Hi all

Glad to be here as a new member (1st post).

Day 1 of vaping. Very odd! I keep thinking "I should have a cigarette now" - but take a hit off the Lea instead. I guess it'll take some time to get used to it and get my dosage right.

I'm very pleased with the Lea 800 so far. I was lucky enough to be able to try one out - a colleague at work got one earlier this week, I had a try of it, and within 2 days I'd put my order in! I can recommend the Vapour Room (UK) site, the service was excellent and delivery next day.

Two questions maybe people could help with:

1. The Lea has an on-off switch, rather than switching on the atomizer by you breathing air through it. I like to push the switch down for 1/2 a second before inhaling, as this seems to make a warm vapour. I hear the atomizer bubbling/crackling in this half-second. Would this damage the atomizer and reduce its working life?

2. How do you know when you've had enough? This is very odd for a smoker, used to the clear start and finish of a cigarette. You get used to thinking in terms of clearly countable cigarettes. As a rollups smoker I used to adjust my dose by rolling larger/smaller as well.
Maybe you more experienced vapers will tell me "trial and error"! I'm sure that's part of the answer, but would be good to hear any tips from others who've been through this starting phase. I'm using 12mg VG-based tobacco liquid for the moment - also have 12mg cherry, grape and vanilla to look forward to.

cheers

Thanks! Especially for the reminder about water - yep, I've noticed already that my throat gets dry. Pint of water sitting by me solves this.

It's quite possible that cigarettes do this as well, but anaesthetise the feeling (I thought this was a very good point in the Beginner's Guide of this site). It's going to be interesting see how my body reacts to no cigarettes over the new few weeks - but without having to deal with nicotine withdrawal.

Update: Just filled a second tank (the Lea comes with 5 empty tanks) with 12mg Cherry. Awesome!!!

Welcome to ECF.

There are no rules. You can vape as long or as much as you like. You will know when you have overdosed, usually a headache is the first symptom. If you get a headache, put the PV down for awhile. If you don't get a headache or other nic overdose symptoms, you are good to go.

You can not correlate vaping to number of cigarettes. You will not absorb all the nicotine in the eliquid and it will 'hit' your system slower than an analog. Also, vaping technique will have a lot to do with nic absortion, and since we all do it differently, it's difficult to be more specific.

And you're right about the trial and error thing. Not knowing what or how you smoked I'd venture to say that at 12mg nicotine you're not going to OD anytime soon. Nic delivery when using a PV is much different and a lot less effective then it is with an analog. Listen to your body. It will tell you in short order when you've "had enough". There is no "butting out" as with cigarettes so yes it can tend to confuse our trained minds. Vape when you want to. There is no right or wrong.

Not to .... on your PV, but I also bought a Lea and wasnt terribly impressed. I had an Ego-t, that I was using before the Lea. It was great for a couple weeks, better than the Ego even, but it seems to have a short life span. Vapor and flavor fall off very quickly. I would highly suggest getting a couple extra attys, so you dont slip into analogs again.

The Lea does have a nice design, and I still use the batteries on other cartos and a Vision stone tank. So, its not all bad. I just wish I could use the pen cap and batteries with different attys/cartos.

Thanks for the tip. Short life-span - I'm guessing that would be the atties. So a couple of spares would be a good investment.

A friend (who got me into this) also uses a Lea - he managed to fit a different carto onto the battery and still use the pen cap. I guess that was a happy accident about the dimensions of the carto he used.
