Lead solder in clearomizers!

i just noticed lead solder in my 510 clearomizers. i was hoping it was silver solder but when i opened it to examine and its def. lead. in the pic you can see where i used tweezers to deformed the lead a bit. i would not have been able to left a mark like that in silver. will this give enough exposure to cause any harm?

Great question - I'd like to hear an opinion or two on this one!

Can e-liquid diffuse the harmful properties of lead in solder? and in turn, is it enough to cause harm to one's lungs?

You can get a test kit by first alert to see if this is lead. It should be available at someplace like home depot. (around $10.00) (a home improvement store)

If I had one of these I would go get the kit, but I don't have one.

im pretty sure its lead, this is made in china...they like to put baby toys in lead. two of the most common solder is lead or silver. lead being the cheapest and easiest to work with and i cant see these chinese factories going out of their way to use silver or a non-lead solder.

sure i can mail it to you, im from canada and its a long weekend so i wont be able to send it out until tues. hopefully by then someone can confirm if its lead.

i makes me worry that other cartos and attys also use lead solder. maybe you can cut one of your cartos to see if there is any lead soldering.

I broke the posts of two of mine to test, both positive. Pulled out the dual-coil innards at the base, tested negative, looks like a low silver lead-free alloy. I have a few packs I can spot check after my daughter goes to bed. It could vary quite a bit I'd suspect. -Magnus

Positive on two CE2. Negative on one dual-coil. And I can't figure out how to identify batch numbers or anything on these things. -Magnus

The CE2s are Royal, the dual-coil is Smoketech (sp?). Do the OEM boxes have batch identifiers? If we're trying too actually determine if this is the norm we need to do something more systematic. -Magnus

I have no idea...I was just willing to test it...I don't use them, don't know how they are packaged.

I thought all the CE2s were made by Royal Smokers regardless of the store branding? So believe mine are the same. -Magnus
