I'm toddler bound. There is about a dozen ways this could go wrong. For example, what if my test produces a false positive because of residual fluids? Or the tanks they were interested in? Which is why I mentioned FUD before. I'll put her down early, give me thirty minutes. Then I'll try this is a more controlled way. -Magnus

While we are waiting, silver solder is also a soft/malleable solder....I have used both, in making jewelry and leaded glass windows.

That last post was two months ago.... not today. But earlier in the thread somebody said they were fine.
I called the emergency sitter and she is over here to put Ceridwen to bed while I goto Lowe's to get more tests. I used my last one on a third CE2, one that is brand new fat-wick, never used... NEGATIVE. I've got a bunch of CE2 so I'm going to sort through them and test as many as I think I can afford to break.
I will get this done ASAP tonight and post back here.... promise. ;-) -Magnus

Dude/Dudette : That last post was 2 months ago............then nothing! tiburonfirst is correct.
It's hard to tell. I use PB free solder and also leaded solder on rare occasion (real careful to wash up after too). Anyway, I know that many atties and such have been tested before and were negative. I'd be real surprised that they would actually use leaded solder, but who knows. Could be a mistake in a particular batch? magnus is correct about possible false positives too, so more study is needed. Still very worrying.

On solder you can't go by looks, you can't tell if it mashes, you can't tell by melting temp. Only with a lead test can you tell.
