agreed .......

pm sent to br - he must have taken dozens apart to mod, almost positive he would have noticed. let's wait and see what magnus' more controlled test shows ...
PM received, tib. Thanks.

I haven't tested for lead content in these things, but I do use lead free solder for my mods. The solder I use is 96% tin and 4% silver. I doubt if I will live any longer because of it, heheh.

I have also been using lead free bronze to make the the center battery post and air tube. I don't think it makes much difference about this part though, because I have been nickel plating them.

But then, I have been aware of lead possibilities in our vaping devices from the very beginning, and have not worried about it. For instance, yellow brass is used in most of these devices, and yellow brass usually has a small amount of lead in it to make it more machinable. In many cases these parts are nickle plated, which may or may not benefit us in that regard.

We don't seem to be too worried about brass fittings and other brass hardware in the plumbing of our house. However, most plumbers are now using lead free solder for sweating copper joints, etc.

Maybe I should worry myself to death about lead in my water and lead in my vapor, but I ain't gonna loose no sleep over it.

I don't use CE2 cartos at all, but just the fact that Magnus's prelim tests were positive for lead has me concerned in general. Looking forward to the results tonight, thanks for sacrificing your cartos for science Magnus!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if the juice comes in contact with any solder in an atty or regular carto designs or is that specific to the ce2 carto design?

I remember asking about lead in the paint almost a year ago. There was a reply that the stuff was sent out for testing (paint and atty guts) and the results were negative. So I know that, historically, someone as looked at this issue before. Things can change, but let's stay cool. Let's see what magnus says.......

Solder is used on most coil wires that connect to a copper wire. I don't worry about them either, heheh.

update...half hour to 45 mins for Magnus......

He is going to create a clean area....and do some testing. He will post when he finishes.

Shall we have a chew your nails contest while we wait.

If I remember right, there was some testing on attys and it was negative. I'm hoping this comes out the same---it seems a little idiotic that they'd try this knowing people have already looked into this. It wouldn't surprise me though since RS has thought of the bottom dollar when it comes to killing co-ops, especially since it's getting some of it's ideas from people here.
If it does turn out positive, I hope ECF boots them from this forum.

well I may be making some phone calls to my friend...this is disturbing to say the least...and he has access to good equip...if magnuses tests leave me any doubts....I understand false positives all too clearly but I quit smoking for health concerns and do not care to replace with another hazard...
