If you end-up needing a VPN to uplink to, Leaford, let me know. I run half a dozen datacenters, and could pretty easily make an account for you and throw Swan on it.
You could also try scp (secure copy) which is an encrypted link. Free scp client: Download WinSCP from SourceForge.net for windows. (can I post links yet?)
I could make you an SSH account that you could SCP to in about ten seconds. Then it's just drag-and-drop-and-post-the-links for you.
Alternate: Several of my camera suppliers over there have set me up with uplinks in the past. Those probably all still work.

Perhaps on your tour and meetings with the "juice divisions", you could maybe point that an ingredient listing on the shipped bottles of juice would be much appreciated by the vaping public. I don't mean to speak for all, but I think its an all around good idea. For larger bulk shipment, maybe a ingredient list included on paper. That way when bought wholesale, the middle men mixers can know what they have and label it themselves.
Just some food for thought. I know I would appreciate it.

I've never gotten confronted when using a simple encrypted uplink. Although you do bring up a good point. Technically encryption tech isn't legal there as I understand it under many circumstances. So one might want to be careful to consider whether they want to use a VPN or SCP/SFTP/SSH (or even an SSL browser session), and maybe consult with counsel prior to doing so.

I had a coule other ideas in mind that should have worked had we made plans in advance. Logmein, GoToMyPC or Hamachi. One of those should have provided Leaford access to his system at home. Each uses some form of "encrypted" security but I would think it would pass muster.
The Hamachi would have provided his own private VPN with a fixed IP. Easier than DynDNS. That and a VNC client should have worked.
Worst case, we can all wait for Leaford's return stateside to see pictures. I am sure he will post furiously upon his return. Even worst case scenario, we don't want him getting locked up for violating some Chinese law that may seem stupid to us. China may be embracing capitalism, but they are far from free and as tolerant of a society as we are.

Hopefully he's able to pop in over SFTP or SCP. (No DynDNS - it's going into a very large DC and I have a couple dozen DNS servers just in that facility). If not, then we can S/WAN him in. He's not on Windows (or Linux) which does complicate things a bit. Hopefully he can try my latest suggestion when he's up and around.
