So after several unsuccessful attempts to use clearos instead of carto's, I was about to give up... But I figured out how to make these work better!
It seems that the problem with clearos is that the tank is a little bit too long. When you screw on the mouthpiece, it creates a seal with the clear silicone sleeve inside the clearo (the part with the metal pip). While closing the battery end with a finger and blowing into the mouthpiece shows that it is airtight, it isn't tight enough to prevent liquid from dripping into the air tube. I believe the main trouble areas are the slots where the wicks come out. While not in use, fluid gets in above the wicks, flooding the air tube and causing gurgling problems, which then cause liquid to get burned onto the atomizer, causing you to get a burnt taste and want to clean/dry burn the clearo.
The solution: take one of your old clearos and remove the clear silicone piece with pip. Remove the metal pip. Now when you look at the top of the silicone sleeve, you'll notice it's pretty thick. You will need to use a blade to cut the "sleeve" off, so you are left with just the top part, which is essentially a washer. Take the washer, drop it into the clearo you're currently using (on top of the sleeve that's currently in there. The pip will fit through the hole in the center. Screw on the mouthpiece and vape!
I cleaned and dry burned my clearo about a week ago and after doing this little mod, I've had zero fluid on the battery, no gurgling, and no burning. I've been topping it off maybe once per day.
I believe that this would be a non-issue if the manufacturer made the tank about a mm or two shorter, or made the top of that silicone sleeve twice as thick.
In any case, I hope someone finds this helpful!
