I constantly am looking for leaks... and when I find them I immediately clean the little cup area of any juice...

I was wondering: Is there an O-ring or something below the inner threading of the battery to protect the innards of the battery? If the juice constantly sits there in that little cup, will it eventually work its way into the innards? I am talking just a general battery like a ego or MVP. :)

Also, what are the proper names of the threading... like the bottom of a Protank 2 is a 510 connection --- but, when a clearomizer connects to the outside threading of the battery - like with a CE4, EVOD or Iclear 16 -- it's a 510 connection also? or do y'all call them the 510 male thread and the 510 female thread? -- there was also another number I saw in all my learning --- called an 801 or something like that... (I can't find it now) .. what the heck is that?

Maybe there is a battery FAQ someone can link me to? My search terms "Battery connection leak" -- gives me too many non relevant results.

Appreciate any insight.

Well I'm pretty new to all this, but from what I can find it seems like there is a 510, 601. 801, and 901 thread style (maybe more) . All of which you can find adaptors to go from one to the other. Now someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think the different threads are just for different brands and applications for E-Cigs. I suppose you should just see what brands are available to you and what brands would suit your vaping needs to decide what thread type to use. I used to use a VaporX brand E-Cig but got a different one because I couldn't find anything else that would match the threads. Now I use a battery with 510 threading because that is what is most readily available to me.

Hope this helps somewhat.

It's called the "well" area I believe. But if you are having leaks that badly I wouldn't be throwing extra o-rings at the problem. Overall, you should have a leak-free setup right out of the box. If not it's either pilot error or the tank. If it's the tank I'd throw the damn thing out and never buy another like it. (But that's just me).

well.. mostly the Iclear 30 gurgles then leaks... it came free with an MVP... so, it is no biggy... I am not wanting to cheange the O-rings in the battery... :) f - that! ... I was just wondering if maybe I should take a tank off my MVP at night, so it dont leak all the way into the MVP case.. Once in awhile, after changing a wick - my protank 2 will leak -- but, I blame it on my own user error... should of added a flavor wick, didnt clean the threads - etc....

I guess I just wanted to know if the battery makers put some kind of seal to keep the liquid out of the housing... in the "well" ...under the "well" ... around the "well"... :)

and McCormick.. yeah.. that info was pretty good... I just recently found out that my little Blu starter pack cartridges that I thought were dead a couple months ago, fit inside my ego and MVP.... got about 35 flavorful puffs out of em... :) ... then tossed em. kinda good to know that the blus fit the ego, cause if I am out and about and out of juice or everything but the battery is malfunctioning- a quick trip to Walgreens and I have vapor in an emergency.

I'm here, when I'm here
Had the same problem with my 30 when I got it with my MVP. Figured out if I tightened the coil on to the post a hair tighter than stopping when it stopped (if that makes sense) or should I say "snug", the gurgling and leaking stopped. I also found when I unscrewed the tip or the tank top, it would loosen the coil if it wasn't snug. Aggravating!

Taking the tank off at night? I would for peace of mind. "O" rings? No idea.

Good luck and Happy Vaping!! :vapor:

Hi Altitude .. for a direct answer to your question. Yes there is an isolator between the center pin and body of the 510 thread. This is most commonly made from silicone or a more basic rubber.... it does form a seal for the most part. I do have mods that the connector can be seen from the bottom and I cant recall ever having liquid penetrated any of them. I suppose it is plausible that it could happen so just be mindful and diligent and you should be just fine. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Just an FYI about those Blu cartridges, they are refillable. I used to stick a small screwdriver in the hole of the mouth piece and pop it off. There is a small white rubber gasket under that to take out as well, slowly drip juice down the sides until the wick is saturated (maybe 10 to 20 drops), put the gasket and mouth piece back on and vape away!

Oh and I have two MVP2's and yes they are fairly well sealed at the pin, however I would take a tank off at night if it was a regular leaker.

I was reading this thread regarding leaks. Can I please ask what would happen if I tried to refill a Blu cartridge and it leaked due to a poor seal? Could the e-cig explode, shock me, or what? What risks are incurred with any refills (not just Blu)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Akula. The blu uses cartomizers. The white fluff inside the tube is a polyfill and its job is ro act as a wick to keep liquid near the coil so it can be vaporized. The only leaking? You should expect would be from the mouth piece end. And that could happen if it is over filled. . There is no tangible risk of shock to you but if liquid does enter your device...... it could be damaged. Its not likely but it could happen. Just be sure to clean up the device when those leaks happen and you should be just fine. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Can liquid get down inside the battery through the center? Short answer- YES.
Probably will not happen on a brand new battery.

One of my battery started getting hot in my hand last year, so I dropped it on the floor, and watched as it slowed started to smoke; I believe (cannot be sure) the reason is because leaked fluid gradually seeped down into the eletronics and at some point caused a malfuntion; batterhy was about 3 months old.

510 male on the tanks; 510 female on the batteries. 510M/510F. The 510F thread is the 510 threadwell.

The outer threads on the battery is the eGo thread. The 510 thead because the predominant thread for tanks because it is cigalike compatible; you can screw on your 510 carto on the battery directly, but a tank with eGo thread sits solidly, has better airflow, and less eletrical problems.
