Hello everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade from my Greensmoke into something a bit higher up. I am looking for a refill option (to cut down on the cost of the expensive cartomizers), but I also want a lot of vapor production. Portability isn't a huge issue for me, so based on all my needs, it seems the Puresmoker Legacy is what I need, but as I'm new to the non two piece setup, I have a lot of questions:
PureSmoker LEGACY Standard [18650]

1 - Do I need the Evolv KICK? It seems highly recommended with the Legacy but at the same time, I don't want to buy what I don't need.

2 - Which version should I get? The Base kit, Budget kit, or Ultimate kit?

3 - If I should just buy the base kit, which accessories do I need for it? (as far as tank vs Clearomizer vs Cartomizer/Drip Tips, so far I like the look of the tank, but i'm not sure which is best).

4 - If I should avoid the Legacy, which product would you recommend?

5 - Which sites do you recommend for the best tasting/quality eLiquid? I'd prefer somewhere in the states.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this!

I don't personally own a Legacy, but a buddy at work owns a Mini Legacy. It is a great American-made mod.

Personally, not a fan of "starter kits". I would only get the basic kit from PureSmoker. I'm not a fan of the Tenergy batteries or charger, you can get better quality elsewhere. I'm not certain what brand cartomizers PureSmoker provides with their kit, it could be an off-brand that are crap. Better to order specifically what you want. You may want to go ahead and purchase an extension sleeve should you decide to try the Kick or the Crown for higher voltage vaping now or later: http://www.puresmoker.com/product_p/legacyext.htm
_____

I recommend choosing a higher-end charger and batteries from RTD Vapor. You'll be glad you did in the long run; don't skimp on batteries or a charger. AW IMR or the Panasonic hybrids in the 18650 size would be my first choices for batteries. Genuine AW Batteries at RTD Vapor

For a charger, I suggest a Pila, Nitecore, or Xtar charger for a higher end charger. Battery chargers at RTD Vapor

RTD has a decent selection of drip tips available: Drip Tips

RTD has the Kick and the Crown: Online Store (kick)
____

Cartomizers:

Are you going to use them alone or put them into a cartotank? If used in a cartotank, they will need to be ordered "pre-punched". I personally prefer Ikenvape cartomizers (510 Fusion or Platinum), but they may not be in stock, so my backup cartos are from Smoktech: 510 Cartomizers

Cartotank My favorite cartotanks are the pyrex variety, specifically from IBTanked - Get Tanked With Us!

You may want to first try out a Kanger Protank, a clearomizer tank that uses string wicks to feed an atomizer head. Easier to fill and use than a cartotank. Many different online vendors sell these; I got mine from Discount Vapors Kanger ProTank - Grey Glass

For e-liquids, I suggest Dripeez should you like fruit flavors. https://natural-eliquid.com/store/index.php

Virgin Vapors and Vaperite offer sampler packs to try out multiple flavors. Once you find a winner(s), just order more in a larger size. This way you don't waste money on flavors you may not like.

Welcome. I have the legacy, which I love, used puresmokers prodigy and icon before that, they've never let me down and neither has the service.

1. You do not need a kick, and I wouldn't recommend buying one right out the door either, as you may very well find the Legacy is enough without it, compared to what you have been using, the Legacy I think was made kick compatible in part to satisfy those of us who got hooked on Prodigys higher voltage rather then any true need for it to be kicked to satisfy everyones vaping needs.

2/3. Which version completely depends on how much your willing to spend, what you already have, and what you think you need. At the least you need either the full or mini body which will come with all the body parts needed of course and some extra little bits too, a couple of batteries, a battery charger, some cartos and juice.

That said - If you want to be able to just refill and go I would recommend getting a tank, and carts for a tank as well, puresmokers are fine to start with to learn and easy to use, but personally I found that I needed/wanted a better tank rather quickly. Any tank will basically work with a legacy.

Also, the clearomizers on Pures site are new and do not work with his equipment they only work with the equipment he sells from other manufacturers, so they won't work with a Legacy. So if you do choose some kind of clearomizer instead, and no one can really tell you which you will prefer, you need to try them for yourself, do not purchase one of the types listed on Puresmokers site right now. Also make sure it will fit 510 threading "not" specfically ego threading. You may also want to be careful that the clearomizers connection isn't to short due to being made more for an ego type 510 as it may not reach the connection well, many sites that sell these products provide information on these kind of details and when they do not you can usually drop them a note and ask if this might be an issue or not.

4. I highly recommend the Legacy, there is no reason you should aviod it, its learning curve is small and any issue you have getting it up and running , just write Puresmoker, they will answer you right away and tell you exactly what to do , even long after the warrenty runs out they'll continue to answer any questions and help you.

The only real learning is with the pieces on the bottom button and Puresmoker has this down to a science if it doesn't work when you follow the directions, drop them an email they will walk you through exactly what to do to get it to work, its just a matter really of whether to put in one little ring at the bottom or two, more or less.

5. Mm, I haven't bought juice in a long time until recently, I still like Puresmokers, but tried halos and enjoyed that to, since I haven't tried anything else in a while I think someone else might be more qualified to answer this one. lol. But I do believe Puresmoker, Nhaler, Halo, just to start are in the states.

Good Luck!

Interesting.. now I'm curious to try a different battery in the legacy, thanks for the info Baditude.

BTW I just bought a tank from IBTanked for the legacy and all I can say is I wish I'd bought one sooner , the ones on Puresmokers site do not compare in any sense of the word.

Shop around , the legacy is compatible with 510 vaporizing equipment, while I do love the legacy, I don't alwqys love the smaller bits Puresmoker sells though they all work well enough, I tend to buy carts, and other things for it, at different sites depending one what specfically i'm looking for at the moment and mainly just buy my mod and any mod specfic stuff from Puresmoker and some menthol juice, so I always have at least one menthol i can stand vaping, lol.

WOW!!! Baditude and Ilyanna, amazing replies. Thank you so much!!! So here is my potential build, please chime in with recommendations!

Battery: AW Protected 18650 3400 mAh OR 2x AW IMR 18650 3.7v 2000mAh?

Charger: Xtar MP1S (I only need one batt charging at a time since I have access to a USB port everywhere I'm at).

Tank: Kanger ProTank. Figure I'll start basic for now.

Kit: Legacy Basic

"Kick": I'll hold off on this per the recommendation of Ilyanna, but I'll get the extension sleeve if I change my mind later on.

Thanks!!! Everyone here rocks! XD

Looks good to me, I have an xtar charger, don't remember the model number but I love it, holds six batteries of different sizes, you don't need the little magnets with 18650s, but I use them with my 1040's for a different mod. I don't know a lot about batteries I have the AW's from Puresmokers site and they work fine, Batitude probably knows if those are good. The basic should be all you need though, yup.

Do let me know how it goes with the Kanger Protank on the legacy!

You can always pick up the extension sleeve later to, he sells them separately so you don't have to order one now to have it later if you decide you want to add the kick, if you find you want a more intense hit, then after you can order both the sleeve and the kick, or even the kick elswhere, too.

Good Luck! Ilyanna

Hey TomCatt, thanks for the reply. I actually saw that video but it did come off as a bit negative and made me start to question my choice, HOWEVER if you watch GreenGrimms follow up, he basically says that he loved the Legacy and in fact, he regrets selling it. :(
I follow GrimmGreen only because he is sometimes entertaining (Kind of a spaz, isn't he?). His reviews are not near as informative technically as someone like PBusardo or Scott.

Choice of batteries:

Protected are often considered par for a mechanical mod to add a little more protection against a hard-shorted battery. However, IMR's are a safer chemistry and don't need protection and can easily be used in a mech mod, too. I use IMR's in my mechs. IMR's would be the better choice should you use a Kick down the road as it would perform best with the higher drain capability of IMR's.
