I just bought a PureSmoker Legacy and am loving it. For those who don't know, it's a 3.7v battery mod that supports 510 cartomizers/atomizers. I'm currently using it with a 1.5 ohm atomizer and getting a ton of vapor and good flavor. I'd like to step up to a tank cartomizer for convenience, but have a few questions before investing any more into it.

1. What tanks/cartos would you recommend?
2. What resistance carto would you recommend?
3. What mix of PG/VG is recommended for a tank carto?
4. Are tank cartos stable enough to transport (such as carrying it in the car where it would be laid on its side)?

That's all I can think of for now, but any other advice you might have would be more than welcome.

Most tanks are built the same, I prefer all stainless steel (including tank tube) for taste and I like to avoid plastic when possible. I also like the way they look with steel mods. Are you using your legacy with a kick or sticking to 3.7 volts? If you don't have the kick LR 1.7-2.0 cartos are good. If you like to vape at higher volts/watts using the kick then you might get some SR cartos 2.0-3.ohm. Hope this helps, I'm sure folks will come along and recommend some specific tanks.

I've just switched to a rebuildable atomizer tank system, but I used DCTs (Dual Coil Tanks) for a long time before that. The tanks are pretty sturdy, depending on which kind you're using, but there are a few weak points. Mostly the O-rings.

We went out to a nice restaurant one night, and I stuck my PV in my pocket when we walked in. I went to adjust it so that it wasn't poking my thigh and off comes the top of the tank. Spilled 4mls of liquid all over my pocket...that was a fun clean up. The waitress didn't even ask why we were drying things with napkins at the table.

Anything with a carto down the center has a weak point also. The cartos have air-flow holes, during normal use they're isolated from the liquid more or less. When they're in a place that's hot (car) and stashed in a glovebox or center console, possibly on their side, they tend to leak through the air hole. I've also had issues with my carto-tanks flooding on me and pouring out the air holes when I was driving. Of course it's in the upper 90s here this week...that probably doesn't help any.

Oh, and if you can get your hands on some Single Coil punched cartos, do that. They'll produce a much more lovely vapor than the Dual Coilers.

I used this tank for a long time...two of them sitting on my desk, and one of the 3ml ones.
Dual Coil 510 Chrome Tank Cartomizer, 5ml

And these cartos, when they're in stock.
eGo 2.5 ml Tank Replacement Cartomizer 1.7 ohm Single Coil

Hope this helps. Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice so far. The heat shouldn't be a problem as I don't plan on leaving them in the car. I just didn't figure I could vape a whole tank while at work and certainly didn't want to throw it out before leaving.

I've looked at the Kick before and wouldn't be opposed to buying one if I need it. I want the carto to produce as much vapor as my current atomizer. If that's what I need to do it, then I'll pick one up.

What is a rebuildable atomizer tank?

1. I like ego vision stardust, vivi nova tanks, boge cartos.
2. at 3.7 volts keep it low resistance to get the most vapor so you're fine with 1.5ohms or 2 ohms
3. Tank cartos work best with PG since VG is thick. 70pg/30vg is a good option.
4. yes most tank cartos are safe for transport. Although smoktech tanks are fragile...

Hi and welcome to ECF. Red and Blue are prolly what you're thinking of.
Different delivery systems:
atomizer/ atty- an element on to which 3-4 drops of juice is dripped
cartridge/ cart- a container with sponge (filled with juice) that is used with the atty- juice drips on to atty from cart and is vaporized
cartomizer/ carto- metal tube with stuffing and element.
carto+tank- a carto with a hole punched in it. Carto is than placed in a glass, metal or plastic tank which is filled with juice- juice saturates carto by way of hole in carto.
Clearomizer- a plastic or metal tank with a wick and element. Contains NO stuffing.

I use the long wick rebuildable Vision Clearo and love it- no leaks.

I also have a Legacy, I've had pretty good luck with the Bud Tanks sold by puresmoker. The o-rings are actually a bit tighter than the DCT tanks. Otherwise, the bud tank on puresmoker is almost exactly the same as a DCT.

I would avoid the dual coils either with a kick or without the kick. Hoosier e-cig sells 1.7 ohm single coil cartomizers with a pre-punched hole and flange on them that produce a good amount of vapor. I use a 70/30 pg/vg ratio. Hoosier also sells these with 3 holes that are good for the thicker juices.

I think you will like either the bud tanks or the DCT. They look like they are part of the legacy. Also, get the nice brushed aluminum finish. It's only like 2 bucks more and makes it look like it was designed for the legacy. Hope this helps.

The kick certainly couldn't hurt anything. They're a bit tricky to find though, people buy them up when they go on the market, it seems.

The dual-coil cartos will give you a bit less vapor than a single coil, so definitely look at that when you're buying something.

A rebuildable atomizer is another one of those expensive things, that have a steep learning curve, and then just require fiddling now and again. I spent the majority of a week tearing my atomzier apart and rebuilding it, trying to figure out how to make a good coil. I think I've got it figure out now, so it's all good. Once I got it running smoothly, it's the best vape I've ever had. Another problem with them is that most of them are hand-made, so they tend to have a waiting list to get your hands on one. The one that I have is the GG Penelope.

They are hand blown and at one point certain juices were cracking the plastic tanks. The issue with the cracking plastic tanks seem to have been resolved with the newer plastic tanks. Also some say they can taste the plastic. I don't find that.

Edit: same also say they can taste the filler/ stuffing when using carto+ tank. I didn't note any taste difference. Realize ALL tanks will eat up the juice quicker and mute the flavors somewhat- I DIY and add extra flavor. Some vendors sell extra flavor or double flavor juices.

Interesting. I expected to get some consensus on what people liked, but apparently there's a lot of good stuff out there. I'll just have to give it a try and see what I like. I've looked at the Phiniac tanks and they look great, but is there anything else about them to justify the cost?
