Hi @All,

i recently wanted to rewick my Lemo 2. The first coil I used in there (my coil, not the premade one) was working perfectly fine.
Now I replaced the coil and noticed a hot wire taste. Upon inspection I saw that as soon as I press the fire button there's smoke from the pole screw (from the smaller post). I tried another coil - same result.

Any idea what could cause this?

Welcome alx.

I'm not familiar with the Lemo 2, but as with any rebuildable, check that your leads are properly tightened. Did you measure your resistance before firing? If so, what was it? Are you trying to run your coil outside the parameters of your mod?

P.S. if you've fried any of the insulators, the base may be trash

leads were properly tightened. Resistance was spot on where I expected it to be, also the resistance didn't jump around, everything seemed perfect.
Coil is a microcoil, 1.6 Ohm, well within the capable range of a VaporShark rDNA40, or a 50W iStick

I dont think my insulator is fried, the big insulator is located on the other post, I didn't dryburn the old coil before removing it. Before I installed the new coil everything worked perfect.

I am using rda and rba atomizers since 2 1/2 years, so it's a bit embarassing for me that I can't figure out what I am doing wrong or what's wrong with the Lemo2

I agree that it's probably coming from juice in the post holes and on the threads. The metallic taste you are getting may be coming from a small amount of machine oil stuck in the threads. Even after thorough cleanings, some attys take forever to clean all of the residual oil from the screw holes. I've found that taking a few pieces of kanthal or nichrome, twisting them together, and then cutting them sharply makes a good micro wire-brush that can get into the screw holes. Grind it into the holes a few times while rinsing with hot water or alcohol and that should free up any hardened chunks of machine oil/metal filings that may be hiding at the bottom of the holes.

Good luck.
