So I got the Lemo today, cleaned thoroughly and rewicked the factory coil with Japanese cotton. The coil was right at 1 ohm and I noticed that to dry burn, it was slow to heat up. At my 20 watt max, it heated pretty fast.

I wicked it, filled it, had a vape and about halfway through my draw, I sometimes get a popping sound. I can notice the coil heating up as I draw through it, but what's causing the "pop" at the peak of my vape?
I'm using the 1 ohm coil at 14 watts. Any higher and it pops the juice really bad. Too much cotton? A drop of water trapped inside? Any suggestions?

Popping is normal. I have a theory about what's happening, but it's just a theory. The more power you put in your atomizer the more it will pop. There is less of it when the coil gets gunked up. I don't worry about it.

Yeah, it only happens at the peak of the heating cycle, when the coil is at its hottest point. It definitely has some lag time.At 20 watts it's almost a lip burner. Didn't know if this was normal or not. I've only been messing with it for a few hours now and honestly, so far, the flavor isn't as good as the Nautilus Mini. Maybe as it gets a little more build-up and settles in, taste will improve.

It's my first rebuildable and 20 watt device, upgrading from the MVP & Nautilus. Whole new experience.

I like to call it happy wicking... :) I believe the cause of it is pretty simple. When vaporizing the liquid is expanding rapidly into gas which consumes much more volume than the liquid. Especially with microcoils it's easy to visualize how there could be places where between the coil, liquid's surface tension and wick an area can have slightly restricted airflow. So this rapid expansion of gas "pops" it's way out. Kinda like a popping balloon...

I believe why it's less when it's gunked up is due to less heat being delivered in combination with the roughness of the surface not allowing as much surface tension in the liquid. Just my opinion though.

It is most likely a combination of the quality of your coil build, and and wicking.
I regularly vape my Lemo @ 30-40 watts .07-.09 ohm single parallel micro coil and Japanese cotton.
I've seen that on many RBA, janky coil builds (hot spots), and/or overwicking will cause popping.

My magma was doing me like that the other day, until I ripped the cotton out and tweezed the coils a bit and re-wicked.

Some good answers already. I'll just add if you are getting juice splatters and they bother you, you can just use a longer drip tip or one with a bend in it to prevent any liquid popping into your mouth. This will also help with the heat.

I notice popping even on a 1.2ohm microcoil on a mech (when it's freshly built) although it does calm down a lot after the first few vapes.

I have a couple of longer drip tips that I like to use and it really makes a difference cooling off the vape and stopping any splats.

It's normal. It happens when the temperature is high enough to cause the juice to vaporize suddenly, like when a drop of water hits hot oil (it spatters with a pop). If it's something that bothers you, vape on a lower wattage, or build a longer coil with a smaller diameter to spread the heat out over a larger area of wick. You can also use a lower gauge of Kanthal (thicker wire) with a bigger coil at the same resistance.
