Lemo Drop - I want to love it but don't!

Hi Folks. It’s my first post on this forum – I’ve searched other posts but can’t seem to find an answer that will work. I’m getting a bit frustrated with my new Lemo Drop – I must be doing something wrong as it’s got such great reviews.

First problem is it’s a bit leaky – I’ll take it out of my pocket (stored pretty much upright) and it’ll be covered in sticky e-liquid. All seals etc are in place and everything’s tightened up. I’m wasting a lot of juice.

Second problem is it’s just so harsh. I’ve got it on a 2.5mm coil using 27AWG A1 Kanthal and Japanese organic cotton (just a bit as shown on various you tube guides)at 1.6 ohms. I’ve tried it at 2 and 1.2 ohms and various wattages on my Smok X-Pro from 8 to 25 but it always seems to rip my throat out. No dry burn taste, so I don’t think it’s that.

I really wanted to give RBAs a go, but I’m very close to binning it and going back to my Nautilus Mini.

what kind of juice are you using?? whats the nic level?

Hi blockley and welcome aboard!

If this is your first adventure with RBAs, then the throat irritation may very well be the nic level. RBAs typically deliver more vapor, and therefore more nic. You might want to try a lower nic juice and see how that goes.

I must say, I'm not enjoying mine much at the moment. Not used it for 6 days now, gone back to mini Nautilus as well.

Don't 'bin' it regardless.... (you didn't mean that literally, did you..) it might make more sense some way down the line in your vaping career.

Have you tried a slim drip tip.... I used one and it made a bit of a difference, I must say. Still too harsh generally though. Next thing I'm trying is 70% VG...

Experiment is all we can do.

Hi chaps, thanks for the quick and helpful replies. I think I'm going to come to really appreciate this forum!

I'm using a mix of different juices, but all are 70/30 pg/vg 1.8% nic. I'll try dropping the strength on my next order. I generally use Rips and JAC juices.

I don't know either of those. If you mean JacVapour, count me out.... always too expensive. They took me for far too much money when they sold re-branded Chinese juice.

I have some 6mg LiQuid which is 60/40 I think and that still kills me.... I've been vaping a good old time now, and don't get any throat hit at all from liquids, so I though higher power would help, but for me, it doesn't.

That Lemo should not leak. I would change all the seals with the spares that came with the unit. See if that clears up the leak, they can be very sensitive to air leaks. Are you using the stock coil that came with it? It took me some time to get the performance just like it was with the supplied coils and wick. Try a few different builds with the supplied wire first, same with the cotton. The Lemo is my first RTA as well. Do you have experience with an RDA? I bought a Plume Veil first to get used to building and then moved on to the Lemo when I thought I had it down. I'm glad I did as you can build and deconstruct a dripper at will and not use up tons of juice. Practice, practice practice, you'll get it, and finally be free of buying premade coils!

Sounds like the wick is dryer then it should be and theres not enough wick in the channels To hold back the juice.and keep everything wet. Also the coil needs a touch of space over the airhole

Dont have one but all the pics I see its just a kayfun variation, and thats where I have these issues w the real ones

My lemos are not very pocket friendly and leak a bit. The heat from your body in your pocket will expand the liquid. Causing it to leak. I've gotten used to keeping mine on a device and upright if it's going to be there for a while.

Thanks for the tip. When I'm setting up the wick then, do you tyhink I should poke each end down the juice channels a bit? If I can work out how to do it, I'll try and post a pic of my current (3rd) build attempt. There's a 1 or 2mm gap between the bottom of the coil and the air hole.

This is all really useful stuff, thanks folks. Plenty to try, and try I will. I might get a dripper to practice on as I have been wasting a fair bit of the precious stuff (any recommendations?)

The adaptability of rebuildables still really appeals to me, I like the craft aspect and being able to get things just how I want is the goal. I was a rollie smoker after all!

Ill tell ya man once you " get it " with rebuildables you dont want anything else.
the experience of tuning things exactly how you want them is very rewarding.
