I have both.

The Delta 2 with LVC stock coil is amazing. 50, 60 W no issues, no dry hits. Incredible vapour/flavour (min RDA level) but also will go through eliquid like no tomorrow. With the RBA I have tried various coil builds + japanese cotton. The best I have been able to come up with is .8 ohm (24 gauge) at 20 watts. While it is a smooth experience/smooth vaping, the flavour is kind of muted. If you do .5 or .6 ohm the vapor is harsh (70 vg, 3nic even). If you go over 20 W you will get dry hits every other vape . It's like playing roulette's and not a comfortable/enjoyable vaping experience imo. The stock coil gauge/vertical coil set up and probably special wicking paper outside of the cotton provides maximum vaping experience and prevents dry hits i'm guessing.

With the lemo drop with .8 ohm (24 gauge) at 20 watts you still get that muted flavour , but you can jack it up to 30-35 watts to bring the flavour alive. Satisfying enough. This is my 2nd lemo drop bc the 1st one shattered (glass broken, dents). The Delta 2 on the other hand feels more solid, heavier and likely to survive some falls. So the Lemo drop is on the fragile side

Botton line is from my experience with these two products is , if you want to go the rebuilding route and save money , Lemo drop is the way to go (unless your clumsy and drop your rta frequently). The Delta 2 is the best clearomizer using the stock head out in the market. But it can't bring out the best out of the RBA. Maybe something to do with the juice channel (wicking issues past 20w) or small deck, too large of an airflow (if you open it up all the way, you get dry hits past 20 w, if you close it up (the vape is harsh). Or Maybe this was Joyetech plan from the start so people will resort to buying the stock heads instead for the best vaping experience

Makes perfect sense. I've been eyeing the D2 but the RBA juice channels look smallish. Wondering if the LVC can be rebuilt or if the D2 RBA can go vertical and get dremeled for juice flow?
I'm sure the LVC can be rebuilt. But its a pain in the behind and you cant really change flavours (especially from fruit to dessert) unless you want a funky aftertaste

The rba is poorly made for performance vaping. Maybe they could not widen the juice channels or it might flood?

I'm going to stay away from the D2 because of the coil material and if you want to know what i mean watch the PBusardo or Rip Trippers youtube video on the d2, you'll also see what kind of hell you'll have rebuilding them
Thats why there is a rba for it. The issue is the rba is not designed very well imo

This is absolutely 100% truth. If they made the RBA section as well as the stock coils then no one (who rebuilds) would buy the stock coils. Everything you said is true. It dry hits like crazy above 20-25 watts no matter what you do, yet the stock coils are the best thing ever created. Coincidence? No way. I haven't tried rebuilding the stock coils yet. I'll try that before selling mine. I cannot justify paying $20+ for 5 coils. Oh yeah, PLUS shipping.
