Hello all

This might be a stupid question considering the Lemo and iStick are made by the same company but would the pair perform well together? I'm new to vaping in general and so especially noobish in regards to rebuilding but I've been jumping headlong into this hobby and figured I might as well keep going. I'm not looking to sub ohm or anything like that (though I have also considered the Aspire Atlantis, mostly because of the reviewers saying how much flavor you can get out of one), I don't want to sacrifice safety. I'm a weenie, I'll admit it. Anyway, I want to try my hand at rebuilding and the Lemo is looking like the way to go. (1) Flavor and vapor production seem to be very good (2) The general consensus (correct me if I'm wrong) seems to be that it's easy to build on and (3) it's inexpensive, so if I totally suck at rebuilding or I find it to be too much hassle at least I didn't spend a whole lot of money. I've been reading a lot about it and I definitely plan on getting an ohm meter (actually thinking of going with the eleaf one I found, might as well stick with the company, right? unless someone has a better suggestion) and testing, testing, testing. I've also read that the Lemo comes with a pre-made coil which ranges anywhere from 1.3 - 1.5 ohms and that's what I plan on using to start with (not sure about using the included cotton as it seems to be lackluster). I also, obviously, plan to use it on the iStick which lead to this post. I have a Cloupor dna 30 clone as well. Seems to be working fine so far, the only issue I noticed with mine was that the screen lit up on its own with no input from me but it's only happened once so far (thought it does make me nervous which is why I'm thinking about springing for a Vapor Shark dna 40 or another genuine high end mod).

Any help, comments, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

I guess it would work, but might prove hard to make a build for it if you are a beginner in rebuildables, my suggestion would be to get a RDA to learn making coils with and afterwards move to rebuildable tanks, as they are harder to wick properly without leaking or dryhits.

What I would do is get an Aspire Nautilus for a tank for starters and buy something like Smok Caterpillar or Youde IGO RDA to learn how to build coils. Just remember you have to buy Kanthal resistance wire, Ohm Meter or a digital multimeter to check the build you have on the rebuildable and cotton or other wicking material like Cellucotton(rayon) or Silica.

For beginners I would not suggest getting a rebuildable tank for starters due to a bit higher skill level needed to get them working properly, and an RDA is also good for tasting liquids and if you are comfortable enough with mechanical mods and battery safety, for sub-ohming and higher watts.

Personally I am a cloud chaser and build my coils as low as possible with battery safety in mind also. My current setups in my drippers range from 0.1ohms to 0.4ohms, mostly in the range of 0.15-0.25 ohms, which is not a beginner friendly stage if you haven't learned battery safeties and what could possibly go wrong.

I do not say you should do anything I suggest you to do, as it's my personal suggestion, and I certainly don't say you should just jump into mechanicals and sub-ohming as it can be potentially very dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. I have had a battery almost vent on me for having a short in my dripper and it's not anything you want to experience.

Lova, I understand, that's why I made the post. I want to get as many opinions and suggestions as possible. Currently I'm using Nautilus Minis on my iStick and DNA 30 and they seem to work well for me but I was wanting to dig a little further. Mechs don't interest me at all because, as I said, I'm a weenie and don't want to take the risks. I know there are still risks involved with rebuilding and VW/VV devices if I'm not safe but the risk seems greatly reduced going that route. I haven't looked into dripping and RDAs a whole lot as they seemed a lot more difficult.

Most RDA's provide an easier alternative for starting rebuilding. I'll include pictures of the build deck for both the Smok Caterpillar and eLeaf Lemo.

Here's the build area for Smok Caterpillar, which is 22mm in outer diameter with the deck being probably 20mm in diameter

Here's the build area for eLeaf Lemo, which is 23mm in outer diameter with the deck being approximately 10-15mm in diameter and you have to watch out for the coil not to hit the sides of the chimney, which is also 10-15mm in diameter

Hope this helps you even the slightest bit

I don't have an iStick but I reckon it would be fine with a lemo.

I got a lemo recently and have been using it at mostly 15-25W, so the iStick at 20W or your clone DNA 30 should be fine in my opinion, especially as you're new to rebuilding.

I'm not familiar with that screen lighting up issue so I'd google it or search on here or other forums. Do you know if it fired when it happened or just the screen came on? I don't own one but those cloupor dna30 devices are meant to be ok from what I've heard, not too far off an authentic dna30. Doesn't that measure resistance? I used a generic multimeter before I had a regulated device but if you'd feel better getting an ohms meter then do so.

As for the ease of building on the lemo, it's about as difficult (maybe slightly easier) than other tank rebuildables like a kayfun etc. It does have post holes as well as trapping the wire under the screw and it's a slightly larger area to work on than a kayfun. It's inexpensive and decent quality as well. I generally recommend it as a device.

Lova does raise a valid point that learning to build coils on a dripper would be easier. You can just slot the wire through the post holes and concentrate more on how well you've built your coil. I started rebuilding on drippers and when I tried tank rebuildables the trickiest thing for me was trapping the leads well. Also wicking is way more important in a tank rebuildable, if you get it wrong you can get dry hits, flooding and leaking, whereas on a dripper is much more forgiving.

In short, iStick/dna30 and Lemo should be fine, although maybe I'd wait and see if anyone comes along who uses an iStick and a Lemo together to be sure. Start rebuilding on a lemo if you're feeling confident and have patience, otherwise start off on a dripper adn then progress to a tank.

Hope that helps a bit.

Yeah, you're fine with the Lemo. It will perform great on the iStick and the build deck is huge. My first RBA was a kayfun, which is much smaller, and I did just fine. There are a million or so build videos online that will show you how to do it. Rebuilding in general is not nearly as complicated as people tend to make it sound. If you can watch a video, wrap a wire around a screw, and turn a screwdriver, you can learn to build a Lemo pretty quickly. The thing that takes more time (and this applies to every RBA out there) is the experimenting and tweaking that goes into learning how to build the perfect coil for the way you want it to vape.

ETA: Get yourself some 28awg wire to start with and don't worry about the complicated sleeper dual parahexagrand emperor triple twisted fog machine builds. A single 1.5ish ohm microcoil on a 3/32" or 1/8" bit will taste like when Dorothy gets to Oz and the whole world goes from black and white to color.

This is exactly what I use and I love it. It does look a little bit "goofy" since the istick is so small and the lemo is pretty big, but I don't think it looks that bad. The Lemo was my first rebuildable, besides the average trial and error that came with being new to rebuildables, I've had literally zero problems/issues with this device, I had more issues when I when using clearomizers. This is probably the best thing about the lemo (besides the price point, performace, and great airflow), it's fairly easy to build on since it has a huge deck and holes in the posts and it's virtually leak proof (this is a HUGE plus IMO, nothing more annoying than a leaky device). I now have a second lemo tank and I haven't found a reason to purchase any other rta. A dripper probably would be easier to build on at first, but personally I prefer a tank. If you feel this way as well, I would defiantly get the lemo, it will be the easiest tank to build on IMO.

I think Lemo, for first RTA is great. Cheap enough that even if you decide not quite your cup, minimal guilt. But it does take time to learn proper wicking. My first RTA too. Wicking is hard. I manage to get first couple hits with great flavor, then it quickly starts to get more of a burned taste. Now, mine did have a screw inside air hole vent (big hole below coil) that someone in China manahed to put there. I did use it for few days not knowing and I'm getting more and more concerned it might affect the lack of flavor because something might be destroyed inside that hole now, not that I have any idea what inside of that hole consists of. Just check for extra screws when you get yours:)

And Istick is fine with Lemo. Plenty enough if you don't subohm. I never go above 15w on 1.6ohm.

Thanks for the comments/suggestions everyone. I'm gonna go for the best of both worlds and get the Lemo as well as an RDA lol. Got a little cash to burn so I might as well spend now and see what it's all about. Think I'll hold off on getting another mod for now. I love my iStick and the DNA 30 is very nice as well. Gonna be interested to see what the iStick 2 is all about as well as the 30W MVP (and whatever else crops up next year). Sorry, bit off topic there. Thanks again!
