Hello,

I've been off tobacco for almost 3 weeks now. I started with the bigger E-Cigs with liquids refills (I'm a total noob and don't know what they are called), then moved to 12mg (medium) nicotine cartridges on V2 cigs and now V2 ecigs with 6ml (low) nicotine refills. The ones I use now are the smaller ones with cartridges as refills.

They are not doing what the bigger ecig did but I am surviving. I still crave smoking but this is okay too.

I need some help and would appreciate your feedback/answers on the below:

  • I vap 1 cartridge per day, sometimes a little more. Would it be better to move back to medium if I vap less?
  • I've been thinking of switching to disposables. They claim to have 500 puffs and some actually more, how much does the one i smoke now have in terms of puffs?
  • I used to smoke 1ml dunhil cigarretes, am i now making myself more addicted?
  • My plan is to switch to zero nicotine in a couple of months, then quit altogether. What do you think? Easier said than done? How does zero feel, do you also inhale it?

Thanks,

-I've been a 24 mg user. I tried to lower my level to 18 in hopes that it would let me vape more consecutively, more often, but I've found that I'm just looking for that pull in my diaphragm that happens when I have good vapes on 24.
-Puffs is a general term. You'd have to look at the mAh and discharge rating of the throw away battery.
-Addiction is thrown around a lot. The addiction to nicotine itself is more of a habitual habit if anything.
-Air feels more harsh than 0-nic liquid. It's kinda pointless to inhale 0 liquid, but I see it pointless to suck on flavored air. Don't set a deadline for when you want to quit. You'll know when you're ready to go for that jump. Advice from people that don't know you isn't going to help with when you should quit.

I vape at one-third my starting nicotine level and will drop if and when I feel like it. The addiction to nicotine via vaping is very different to smoking, and has to do with absorption and mechanism of action. The patch, for example, is not even considered addictive by most medical professionals at any nicotine level for this reason. Smoking allows nic to hit the brain in about 5 seconds, vaping is about 30 seconds, and the patch is a minute or more in some cases. Having nicotine in your body is not what is addictive and everybody has nicotine in the body, because nicotine is found naturally in our food and serves several important functions. Additionally, some individuals can handle more nicotine than others, like different foods and people, and can have a more or less beneficial effect on the body, depending on the person. The habit, the hand to mouth, is powerfully habit forming, as is the psychological addiction. What nicotine does is cause a dopamine/serotonin dump in the brain that allows us to experience our happy place, which is relaxing, calms the nerves, soothing, and provides for coping. Nicotine is not inherently harmful if kept at modest levels, though higher doses are toxic. But this is no different than many things we put into our bodies. Certain vitamins, vital for life, are toxic at high doses too. I recommend you do some research on the subject, here and elsewhere, so you know what you're dealing with. No one has ever died from vaping. 30% of all cancers are lung cancers, mostly related to smoking, but this is due to the carcinogens in the smoke, the chemical additives that are added to tobacco to make it more addictive and to enhance nicotine absoportion. Combusting and inhaling anything on a frequent, daily basis, for many years, though is carcinogenic. Don't be too worried about the nicotine, be very worried about smoking again, and do whatever you need to do to not smoke, which is quite deadly in 10% of smokers. Good luck to you, I hope I answered some of your questions, welcome to the Forum, power up and vape on!

Wow, yes you have both been very helpful! I love this forum already. The thing is E-Cigarettes are not sold here in Kuwait in public, it is illegal. I get them when i travel, or ask friends to bring me some while they travel. I am convinced that nicotine is not bad for you but I want to quit because ecigs are not readily available here. Well, there are a lot of chinese ecigs and juice sold here but I'm not sure on those, the juice comes in small plastic bottles without any description on them.

Chinese mods can be good. You're in the right place to do research you would need to do to acquire proper data on them. Don't thrown in the towel just because of that. Hopefully a Chinese advocate will see this and point you in the right direction. I've only used UK and US mods so far, but I hope something works out for you. You can probably get samples from online vendors sent to you. Check out Alice in Vapeland and Fuzion Vapor. They are always in my tanks ready to go. Check out the liquid discussion here for the milabillions of vendors for liquid.

I've never had a bloody nose from vaping. When I was switching from smoking to vaping, I'd have a dry nose and sinus problems before I started coughing that filmy goo out. I haven't had any related problems since I fully quit smoking. I'd look into the disposables you're using. There aren't any standards with e-cig liquid, so you just have to trust the vendor..something I wouldn't do with disposables or cig a like cartridges.

Myself, I switched to 18mg and vaped less for a week, however I've been vaping more. Stay away from disposable- to expensive, not enough varity, and often the batteries die well before 500 puffs. Try mixing up you liquid orders, and when you find a flavor you like try lower levels of nic. You should be enjoying this, not worried so much about "quitting." Although I took this up because I was sick of spending money on cigs (and sick of cigs) I've noticed the dry mouth, but I'm also on a paleo diet so I can't confirm if it's e cig related. I just saw you live in a country that there illegal: if disposables are easier for you to get, go for em.

They are not doing what the bigger Ecig did but I am surviving. I still crave smoking but this is okay too.

I need some help and would appreciate your feedback/answers on the below:

Hello Myk and welcome to ECF!

1. I vap 1 cartridge per day, sometimes a little more. Would it be better to move back to medium if I vap less?

I assume that one cartridge holds approximately 1 ml of eliquid, correct? If so, 1 ml of 6 mg/ml eliquid per day is extremely low--this is like smoking maybe a cig or even less a day. Definitely go up to 12 mg/ml--it's still relatively low. Most of us started at 12-18 or even 24 mg/ml and pretty much chainvaped--before gradually tapering down.

2. I've been thinking of switching to disposables. They claim to have 500 puffs and some actually more, how much does the one i smoke now have in terms of puffs?

They are lying, plain and simple. Don't bother with disposables--they are expensive and ineffective, for most part.

One 1 ml cartridge contains about 20-25 drops of eliquid. One drop of eliquid will give you 4-6 puffs. Do your math. :)

3. I used to smoke 1ml dunhil cigarretes, am i now making myself more addicted?

Did you mean to say 1 pack of Dunhills? If so, you are already addicted to nicotine plus the 4000 other chemicals contained in cigarette smoke. Vaping will help you become less addicted to nicotine without all that other junk.

4. My plan is to switch to zero nicotine in a couple of months, then quit altogether. What do you think? Easier said than done? How does zero feel, do you also inhale it?

Go for it. Many vapers wean themselves from the nicotine altogether and then continue to vape 0 mg/ml--or quit vaping altogether. It's perfectly doable. It may take you longer than two months, it make take you one month. We are all different. No idea how zero feels because I have no intention to quit my nicotine at the moment. I like my nicotine. As for inhaling, you don't need to inhale with vaping at all, as most of nicotine absorption from eliquids takes place in the mouth and nose, not in the lungs. Some vapers do lung inhale, others don't. Personal preference, but vape like they would smoke a pipe or a cigar rather than a cigarette.

You're welcome--and good luck!

Lastly, my nose becomes dry and bleeds daily. My lips also dry out every day from vaping, I was told this would be temporary and i've been drinking more wateer. can anyone confirm?

Vaping is very dehydrating. And you live in a hot and arid region and probably spend most of your time in air-conditioned buildings. Drink plenty of water and if that doesn't help, use a room humidifier and consider Biotene--if you can get it in Kuwait.

I just smoke 3 roll ups a day - one before work, one during, and one after with headphones and music, with hardly any tobacco (smooth) - I just do not want to smoke more even though I am in the process of buying a new home and a have a wife with borderline personality disorder, so thanks to her my life has many ups and downs. If I vape too much I cannot smoke the roll-ups, I just want this status quo.....
