Super_X_Drifter informed that this is the place to be, so allow me to re post :

Getting a Woodvil 18490 - Practice on a VMOD 2.0?

Hello all, and I'd like to welcome myself ReoRoom!

Yesterday, Vapor Joe posted for a Vmod 2.0 special on the Vapage site. I've only been at vaping for just over five weeks and in that time have spent way, way, waywayway too much money experimenting on different devices. No bottom feeder yet, the Vmod seems to get good reviews, and for $37.50 I couldn't pass it up. Should be here next week.

Then last night I saw this in the classifieds:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/for...ized-burl.html

Take a look at it! I had to have it.
Should be here next week.

I went from zero to two bottom feeders in a few short hours. So I guess what I'm wondering is would the Vmod be a good training tool to get myself familiar with bottom feeders? Are the two functionally similar, or is the "feel" quite different? I already have batteries for the Vmod, so that will be plug and play. Or plug and flood. We'll see.

But I still need to order 18490 batteries for the Woodvil. And since I gather this group LOVES to talk Reo, I'm asking for advice on where to order good batteries at a great price.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you're all as happy to have me as I am to be here!

Clyde

I ordered some batteries from MadVapes, should be here this week. And I'm still waiting for both bottom feeders. Should be here this week

So I welcome myself to the correct Reo section. I plan on enjoying the stay.

Clyde, glad you found the right place! Welcome again.

In theory, a vmod and REO are similar - in that they both wet your heater from the bottom. That is about the only similarity.

Think about it like this. A REO is like an apple iPhone, the vmod is like one of those Barbie phones a little girl plays with from age 3 to say, about 5. Then she wants to start using your iPhone. Are you gettin it? If not, once you have that REO in front of you you will. They are not only the ultimate vaping machine, they are beasts. Damn Hard to break one.

My guess is that once you get that REO, you will forget that vmod. I know, you'll keep it as a backup right? Not. Once you use a REO, a REO is all you will want for a backup too. Happened to me.

Wow! That is one beautiful stabilized burl mod! I really think that's the one I tried for on sale night....and ended up getting a similar one (that I have now) that looks a lot like it. You are going to LOVE that baby! I order my batteries from RTD Vapor AW Batteries. Good prices and fast shipping. Use ECF5 for 5% off.

I don't know anything about the VMod, but I know you're going to love that sweet REO 18490. There's not much of a learning curve....fill the bottle with juice, pop in a battery, screw on an atty and go for it. You should read through some of the stickies above....there's so much info there it'll make your head spin. OR....just wait 'til you get it and start asking questions.

WELCOME to Reoville! Congratulations on the acquisition. Hi, I'm Jan.

Welcome to the Reo-world,

Dunno about the vmod but hey, you have a Reo now and when you got the best, why mess with the rest ;)
And a woody to boot, man yer making me green with envy :D

You nut only gonna love yer Reo but emphatically without a doubt this section of the ECF has the best group of folks there is, as well as the best customer service from Rob (redeyedancer) you gonna ever experience. So come around often, even if you don't have a problem the Reo Lounge is a great place to be.

In the land of no hills and red dirt
No experience with the vMod, but watched a couple of videos on it. Jen's (Geekgirl) review was informative. Both are bottom feeders, but:

1.) Seems the vMod is a bit more proprietary in that you have to use their bottles, and until recently their atties. It appears they only recently added an adapter cone that allows you to use regular 510 and 306 atties.

2.) You appear to have to disassemble said cone, etc., to slide the cover off to change the battery or refill the bottle.

3). Jen called attention to the build of the mod: thin metal sleeve, relatively flimsy plastic frame, and a switch with a lot of give in it.

My guess it that it will work, but won't be as durable as a Reo. But to be honest, the bottle access on the side does look appealing, as it should allow for easier one handed squonking.

Nice thing is, in a few days you should be able to give us a relatively subjective comparison between the two.

Welcome new Reonaut!

You will love the Woodvil 18490. You will be amazed at the quality of craftsmanship. There has only been one run of those made. So you have a very special first run!

Pick up some Howards Feed & Wax. You need to wax the inside and outside. It really does help the wood.

Will await your thoughts when you have both in your hands!

I will add my 'welcome' to the mix as well, Clyde! As a fairly new REO owner I will say that you will love this mod! BTW - I am SO envious that you found that awesome Wood in the classies! Fair warning here - once you have one, you lust for more! :)

I had the VModXL and, even thought the plastic chassis broke after 3 months, it did, at least, introduce me to the world of bottom feeders and open that final door into my vaping life. Once I experienced bottom feeding, I knew I never wanted anything else. You're lucky you will be discovering it so early in your vaping experience. Wish I had!

This is the greatest place to be on the ECF forum! Tons of good folks more than willing to help you when you get your mod. And be sure to drop by the lounge and meet some of the nicest (albeit zaniest!) people around!

Update time!

Everything has arrived, and I plan on getting the Woodvil fired up this evening. I got the V-Mod fired up this morning and I'm vaping some of my home brew orange creamsicle in it right now. Delicious!

No flames please, but I really like this little V-mod. About three hours in and no floods, just nice clouds of yummy vapor. And I love the size, small and stealthy. Build quality? For what it is, it is well put together and is working well, but has an overall crappy feel to it. If I had payed 75 bucks for it, I wouldn't be very happy. But at $37.50 I like it.

The Reo has a much sturdier feel to it, and is beautiful. My plan is to take the atty off the V-mod and use it with the same juice on the reo. I feel that should give me a fair comparison.

I'll keep you posted.

YUP! Happened to me, too! I was warned, too and now I have 3. But, I still have my little plastic bottom feeder. Just in case. Or in case I go somewhere that might not be vape friendly, like another country. It's napping in a drawer. :D

Enjoy! We know you will. ;)

Nice one on the burl, Clyde. I'm curious to hear your comparison between the Vmod and the REO. I got a Woodvil 18490 on classifieds just before that seller posted your burl.

Even if both mods work equally well, I think it's worth keeping in mind that with the REO the customer service is superb, not to mention the group of reonauts on this forum that are always so awesomely willing to help and offer great friendly advice.

In any case, the point wouldn't be to convert a vaper, just encourage a pleasant vaping experience :). Whatever works for you.

Well I must say I like bottom feeders! I've only been vaping for just over six week, and have been buying different devices like a mad man. Like many, I started with eGo's and quickly started adding devices and experimenting. Bolts, Vamos, MVP, a Provari and a whole bunch of mechanical mods. The Vamo is very good, and the Provari is much better, and I love the pure simplicity of the mechanical tube mods. But I avoided bottom feeders. Thought they looked a bit silly with their little hole in the side. Still do I guess, but now really like them for their functionality. Which brings me to Woodvil / Vmod comparo.

The Woodvil. Beautiful little work of art. I show it to friends and it really has a "wow" factor. Functions flawlessly, good hit and taste. I consider it quite expensive, but I understand why. And unless I do something to screw it up, I don't see it losing much, if any, value. I like it alot! The only negative is the size. The Reo is a whole lot bigger than the Vmod, but it does have a bigger battery.

The Vmax. From the aluminum cover to the plastic inner to the button, it just feels cheap. Not throw away disposable cheap, but it just doesn't have a substantial feel to it. In spite of the cheap materials, set it up and it transforms into a nice, solid, light weight little mod. For me, function is every bit as good as the Reo. Functions flawlessly, good hit and taste. The size and shape of it fits my hand much better than the Woodvil. Drop it in my shirt pocket and don't even know it's there. I really like it and if Vapage has another 50% off sale, I'll probably pick up another.

So I really like them both. Sitting on my sofa right now hitting the Woodvil. Heading to Menards in a bit, and the Vmod is going with me. I've got room in my life for both these mods.

But what about the Reo Mini, you ask? Similar size to the Vmod and uses the same battery. A bit boxier. So I picked up a Mini yesterday from the classifieds. Should be here this week. I imagine I'll love the Mini too.

The quest for knowledge continues........

Thanks for the update Clyde. As many have said before, REOs are addictive. Minis kick .... Rob can feed your monster when you can't get your fix off the classies.
