No PB said it's machined for a solid block.

AHH, OK. I really skipped around on that vid and didn't catch that. So then he had an aluminum extrusion made specifically for that...or possibly an aluminum casting...or it was just a rectangular bar that he machined the crap out of. But then aluminum mills pretty quickly.

Off to bed. I'm cashed. Goodnight David.

I am experimenting with watts, starting at 12 and working my way up to see how the flavor changes. I'm at 15.2 right now. So far 14 watts was spot on with my 28 ga, .7 ohm dual coils. I'm trying to remember the watts Retic mentioned as ideal at .7 on the Magma.
I was running at 14 watts on the SVD with that setup so our tastebuds must concur . :)

I just dialed back to 14W. At 15.2, it was spitting juice a little and the flavor muted. But I've also OD'ed on Serendipity today. Gonna try some other flavors. I love the display having all pertinent info right there with no clicking through a menu. The low limit is .5 ohm. Below 1 ohm, the atty reading blinks, so it's blinking at .7. They said it's just meant as a warning. Kinda annoying, but I can put it in stealth mode and hide the display.
That would annoy the hell out of me , I'd have to turn it off too . But congrats on your new toy , nice looking mod ! :)

Thanks, Retic! The blinking is built into the DNA chip, according to the Evolv DNA 30 data sheet. It's a tiny area on a tiny screen, so it's not lighting up the room or anything. But I'd love a way to make it stop.

Here it is side by side with the Provari. Both are in 18490 mode. The Provari body is taller by 5/8".

I'm thinking the real advantage would be bumping one of your Magma's up to 1.3 - 1.4 and running at a higher wattage . You'd gain surface area on the coil and reduce your amp draw on the battery , should give you a good vape and longer battery life .

Which gauge - 28 or 30 - do you think would work best?

You are right about higher wattage. I looked up more info on the chip. Turns out that the blinking means you are basically in mech mode, running straight off of the battery. The fix is to up the wattage. Running it on the 18490 battery, I upped it to 15W and the blinking stopped. I went to 15.5 and the vape is compatible to what 14W was like on the 18650 battery. But the regulated voltage to the battery is 3.5V at 15.5W on the 18490.

This is gonna be another set of parameters to learn! For me, that's part of the fun. But I just started understanding the mech vs. regulated stuff. My poor old brain.

While running sub-ohm is all cool and everything, the drain on a regular size battery makes it a complete novelty item for me. I don't like getting 20 minute of run time on a 0.5-0.7 ohm coil before a battery needs swapping out. I'll take a slightly higher ohm coil where I'm not stressing the battery as much, as well as not killing any nuances of flavour from whatever juice I'm vaping.

Try a coil at 28g around a 3/32 bit with 8-9 wraps and see if that is close. I'm actually getting interested in VV/VW

I'd go 28 , gives you more surface area and it heats up quick enough at higher wattage . The downside will be that it will suck on the stingray .

I didn't go sub-ohm to be cool, I swear! I'm a flavor chaser too. What's your favorite flavorful build in the Magma so far?

I still haven't found anything better for flavor than the duals at .7-.8 but a twisted 28ga single at .7 was pretty good , it wasn't quite as warm , you should be able to play a bit now .

That's just a shade larger than BK's 2mm coil winder I've been using. I'll have to give that a try. It will be interesting to see how ID changes flavor versus more wraps. The ZNA is (so far) the best of both worlds, mech vs. VV/VW (regulated). I love my Stingray mech, but I don't like the drop off in flavor as the battery drains. But I already see that the battery life suffers in the ZNA, as Dusty mentioned.

I'd go 28 , gives you more surface area and it heats up quick enough at higher wattage . The downside will be that it will suck on the stingray .

And that makes me glad I have more than one Magma. One can stay at .7 for the Stingray. :)

Playing with builds will be fun. And there might be a good reason to pick up another Magma. That super long 510 connector is annoying me though. Maybe I'll just wait and see what other flavorful RDA's you all find.

I believe you. I don't see you as a cloud chaser.. made a post a day or two ago about my most versatile build, and what I have on my Magmas now: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...56596-lets-talk-hardware-50.html#post14131433

Appreciate that link help, Dusty. I'll have to pick up some 26ga. Your build is probably using less juice too. Being on this Magma dual coil tear, I am going through juice like crazy. The flavor is worth it, but, man!

Man, Blake sent me this tip to check out and I got to say, it's a perfect fit for the PanMag. RJ noted that the 3 rings on it went with the 3 rings on the Panzer. COD freaks, what are you gonna do? Anyway, I wanted to post these shots. I thought it was a striking drip tip. It's quite a wide one too, easy to drip into if that's your poison.
