Ekowool sucked in the Kayfuns. Cotton beats all in the KFL's..

And after a few tanks using cotton (again) I will say I am still not noticing a lot of difference between cotton and plain silica. If anything, a little more vapor, but flavor and TH the same. For me, just not gettin' it. But it is easy to pull and replace cotton with a dry burn between. Just rinse off everything else.

Ekowool worked fine in the drippers, but all I had was 3mm Ekowool which was a bit bulky for the KFL. Plus the fact that even with dry burning, the heart of the Ekowool (which is wrapped under the coil) just turns hard and doesn't rinse well enough like the ends.

With cotton, maintaining a long running coil is so much easier and if you make a mistake -- cotton is plentiful and cheap and a little bit goes far longer than buying silica. And I have to pinch every penny anyway I can.

Built my first twisted kanthal coil. 32g, 3 wire, cant remember how many turns around my 2mm or so screwdriver. MVP shows it at 1.7. Seems VERY slow to heat

Crank it up.. 15 watts minimum!!

Drilled out my cyclone to 5/64 today, and rebuilt it to a more suitable 24 gauge :) one second pulls are all I need now.
My first vertical coil also. It just naturally bent that way and I went with it.

Bronze I think for people like me that change flavors every tank or so the cotton is the holy grail....if I ran the same juice in a given tank I might rethink the silica/dry burn and go.

I do that with my drippers IA. Makes for a fast pit stop. :) Also, silica requires a bit of a break-in. Cotton doesn't have that issue. In the end, cotton vs silica has always been six of one, half dozen of the other...to me. I found it interesting that a couple/few months ago X posted that after all this time of using every wick media imaginable he finally settled on silica.

Hudson I'm curious about that 3.1 , such as how's the threading , overall quality and how's Angelecig to do business with , did they ship quickly ?

Overall, I am happy with the threading. Only issue I had was a small burr on the edge of one of the tank sections. Oh, and I quickly cracked a tank using coffee liquid. My fault totally.

Angelcigs. Well, they took a bit to finally ship out, and when they did, it was the wrong item. (They sent me a lite instead.) HOWEVER, upon notifying them, they quickly shipped out a 3.1, and never asked me to send the lite back. Very classy of them.
