Dust, did you send Pop a Plus or an original? I get more airflow from my plus than I do my original.

An Original, according to Dusty. Big difference between the KFL and the Veritas. But I've settled in on 9 Watts (4.5V and 2.2 ohm) and the Powder Keg is tasting pretty sweet.....

You and I are pretty close Pops. I'm 8 - 9 watts. After extensive building on the kayfun and now with the P3, I've settled on a 28 ga, 10-wrap, 2.0 mm ID microcoil which yields 1.5 ohms and I set the boost at B2. I used to be 30 gauge before the P3 because 28 ga took just a little long to heat up. Boost changes all that. No waiting at all anymore. Definitely the sweet spot for me. ProVape says the best set ups are between 1.6 and 1.8 ohms on the P3. Of course, that is opinion.

Norman, Ok
On my EnhPro Kayfun Lite which I've drilled the air hole out to 5/16"... vs the Infiniti KFL+ v2 with the AFC open all of the way... the +v2 still has a lot more air flow.

Currently... on the KFL, I've set it up using 28g Kanthal wrapped on a 2mm mandrel at 1.2Ω. The KFL+v2 has everything the same but wrapped up to a 1.5Ω coil ( ie 10 wraps ). I get better flavor on the 1.5Ω coil but I'm uncertain if it is from the air flow or the difference in the coils... I'm thinking it's the air that is the big difference. Oh... didn't mention it, but I'm using Japanese cotton for the wick in both.

The amount of difference in flavor isn't a lot but it is there. Because of that... and the fact that a lower ohm coil will drain my batteries sooner... my coils will now be at least 1.5Ω or higher from now on.

IMG_20141208_194255_607.jpg Wrapping a 29g 10 wrap coil, then gently position against side of post structure. Wrap leads to post screws outside in, then trim excess from leads.

IMG_20141208_194559_419.jpg Lift drill bit up over post assembly into position. Remove drill bit, do ohms check with DMM, then dry burn.

IMG_20141208_195538_798.jpg Using wooden toothpick, lift and twist coil at angle between juice bevels and post connections.

IMG_20141208_200241_424.jpg Twist rayon tightly and insert through coil using needle threader. Trim excess so as to barely reach deck of chimney chamber.

...and I just promptly fried those wicks, with a full tank of six-month steeped DF :(

EDIT : After several 'dry-draws' and letting it sit for a few minutes, the DF finally reaches the coil. 4.5V and 2.2 ohm for about 9 Watts. Good taste coming out of the Lite + V2 :)

Did you prime the wicks before assembling?

No, I am used to squonking, remember ? I guess I'll have to ease a drop or two of juice on the wicks first ?

Since it's 'Vacuum feed' I was just 'dry-draw' about six times. Guess that ain't good enough....

You are pre-soaking your wicks right?! i.e juicing them before putting the tank together and filling the tank?

Your coiling process looks a little convoluted but if it works, it works.

I will soak the wicks from now on. But why is my coiling process convoluted ? Stabilize the coil / drill bit until leads are secured, then lift in to place ? Or angling the coil away from the +/- posts ?

Drench those wicks Brett. I do way more than a drop or two. Mine are saturated before I put it together.

Yes, get your wick saturated. It also serves as glue so you can stick the tails to the side of the deck. Again, make sure the wick ends lay on top of the deck...fan them out across the width.

Soak em.. till you see juice come through the lower slot of the deck with the chimney one. I then give it a quick dry-draw through the chimney, and wait to see if the juice fills the bottom slots again. If yes, good to go! If not, another drop or two. Usually takes around 4-5 drops on each side of the wick and another 1 or 2 directly on the coils.

Have you seen Pbusardo's video on wicking medium comparisons. Oh wait! you don't watch his videos!! :p Left to itself, it takea a WHILE before any of the wicking mediums successfully start absorbing juice, but once you get them wet, they soak it up like they're supposed to.
