I honestly wish I knew what to say about malfunctioning KFLs. Honest to God I have never experienced a single dry hit or flooding and I got my first KFL last summer. I've used both silica and cotton. In fact, I've been running cotton exclusively for the last several weeks. I change it after each tank. Wish I could relate.

You probably just know the exact amount of wick to put in. I can get it right almost every time with the P&C yarn, but now I'm spoiled to the KGD. I take the less is more cotton rule to an extreme, and it screws me up. Last night I put in more KGD than I thought I should, and left tails on the deck.. didn't overfill.. Perfect vape day.

Keep it up and the vape gremlins will pay you a visit.

I don't know a lot about the KGD but from what I could gather one of the advantages was you could cut the same size piece accurately and with repeatability. In other words, once you find a size that works you just keep using the same size.

I know with cotton ball the acceptable range isn't very wide but I don't think it's that finicky either.

I agree. I just tried to leave the cotton 'touching' the deck, no tails, and I wasn't using enough. I think I've got it figured out now. Bronze if you want to try some KGD I'd be glad to mail you some. It is pretty awesome as it's completely clean, no weird taste/break in.

*or anyone else, not just Bronze.

Thanks Bridge. I'm OK for now but I know where to go if I need a change. I get no flavor compromise with cotton ball. Silica yes. For about 2mls but it's a minor price when a silica wick can last 4 months. Sure am enjoying my DF tonight. :)

I always leave tails to the bottom of the well. And when the cotton saturates they fill the well.

Ok, she said it quit whistling if she loosened the AFC screw. But she didn't like the draw, so she tightened it back a little, and has a slight whistle now. She's gonna have to live with it I think.

Bridge, tell her to go to the other extreme. Keep tightening the screw until it crosses past the air hole, and into the upper half of the KFL. I find that it tightens the draw as well as stops the whistle.

I always said I was indifferent. I'm sure I will use silica again. I almost put silica in today. It really is six of one, half dozen of the other for me.

I'm amazed that you can't detect a difference between Silica and Cotton. Perhaps the clue was in what you said earlier, the part about the first 2mls. I positively HATED that part of it..because it meant half a day for me. With cotton balls it was the first couple of hits. With KGD and Muji, you get true flavour from the very first hit, or you've done something wrong. Perhaps I just dislike compromise at this point in my life, or I'm just a picky bastige! :D

Exactly.. I tried going back to yarn this week when I couldn't get the wick size right.. Nope. Can't do it.

I really just need a week off to test and figure out the perfect setup for all my vape gear:D. It's always a challenge when you're in a hurry but I'm just glad if I keep 2-3 setup I can find something working to get me through the day

IG, that's one reason that I have quite a few KFL's.. I always have a spare that has been "coiled and cottoned" both in my work bag and at home. There are times when a wick goes south on me either in the middle of the day, or when I'm tied up with something at home and can't rebuild. All I have to do is pull the spare, charge with juice and I'm back in business.
