I played with some Gplat that BK gave me , much lower resistance than Kanthal and it heats up a lot faster , I had 10 wraps at 2.4 mm id come out to .41 ohms in the Rose , favorite build in that so far , I use 100%VG with extra extract requested in my HHV juices , DF ordered that way is killer in subohm builds .

I really need to try some Gplat..Been meaning to do that but have a lot of kanthal on hand atm.

Know what you mean , I have a few hundred feet of Kanthal myself but after trying the Gplat I wanna keep a little bit on hand . Adam said HHV is gonna start carrying Gplat so that makes it easy .

Will twisting the Kanthal raise or lower Ohms ?

twisting two pieces together drops the ohms... if they are the same gauge wire, it halves it to be exact.

Going sub-ohm etc... is for the mech mods which can't boost their power level... a good high power regulated mod doesn't need to go there... just turn up the wattage. Having more surface area ( sub-ohm or not ) does help as long as there isn't too much to make the coil take a long time to heat up.

It lowers it . It will allow you to build a single coil at .4 ohms that will give good wick coverage , use less juice than a dual coil build and reduce the heat level as well . It doesn't match the output of duals but it's a good compromise , you can still build duals with the twisted wire but it takes longer to get to temperature than a single wire build and it will increase the heat level when it does . It's worth trying in the RM5 as a way of cutting your juice consumption while giving good flavor .

Hey guys. I've been vaping from the KFM a lot recently, and have a few observations and subsequent questions.

I have built two different coils, both on 2mm toothpicks. The first one on 30g measured 1.9ohm, while the second one, which I built earlier today with 28g, measured 1.6ohm. The second time I made sure to leave a bit of space over the airhole, and it has made a huge difference. I've been able to vape 70pg juice even at higher temperatures than I could with the first one. Right now, it's working perfectly even on the iStick, which I've learned hits harder than the MVP2, even a lower temps.

I also tested somo 50/50 pg/vg, low nic (6mg) juice on it, and although it crackled and popped more than the 70pg, I could vape the whole tank. I realized that ratio is still too much VG for my liking and the nic drop is basically unnecessary for me. I think I'll order some of my favorites like Maple Eh and Serendipity at 60/40 pg/vg, 12mg, and NO extra extract/flavor. I have learned that extra flavor, which is awesome for tanks and clearos, can be too much on the KFM. I will dilute the ones I have left with extra flavor on them with some plain VG.

This brings forth my first question. I don't believe all VG's are created equal, so would appreciate if someone could point out a really good vendor. I don't mind paying more for higher quality. My local pharmacy carries one which is 99.3% and I know I can find something better online.

Anyway, I also learned different wick lengths can make a noticeable difference. Making it exactly like Bronze on my first try yielded very good results. I subsequently made one a tiny bit shorter and it gurgled a bit more but worked. I then watched a youtube video in which the guy makes the wicks pointing upward, then puts on the logo ring, and cuts them right over it. This is the method I used in my most recent wick, and it's working like a charm. Perhaps that's the way noobs should be taught how to do it from the start.

I have one final question for those experienced with the KFM. Can it be refilled while half-full? I know it obviously can't be re-wicked, and have yet to try refilling it under those conditions. Thanks in advance.

PS- How much liquid really fits in the small mode? I've been measuring 1.6ml with a needle every fill, and wonder if I could put more in it.

You should be leaving some space over the airhole anyway , if the coil touches the deck at that point it will short out . I can't answer your question about VG but I can tell you that you can refill before you're empty but keep your finger over the air inlet while you do to stop it from flooding too much . I'm not sure about the actual capacity I just fill the tank up to the point that threading for the topcap starts .

I think over 2ml could fit in there if I go all the way up to the start of the threading of the top cap. I'll experiment next time. BTW, I thought you DIY'd, so I hoped you had an answer for a good source for VG.

BK DIY's , he uses the VG from wal-mart for his juices , I don't know what grade it is but it works perfectly , you might try Whole Foods for organic VG if you have them nearby or check Amazon for it .

Glad to hear you're liking the KFM so much, Voltron. I usually fill mine from the fill hole using a super slim plastic drip tip bottle and I think I can get almost 3ml in there. Somewhere around 2.5-3ml sure. :2cool:

Thanks a lot, Chak. The KFM is definitely a game changer, like Bronze and Dust would say. :) I got about 2.5ml of juice in before it reached the threading. Man, trying out my favorites on this thing is really awesome.

A fellow vaper recently told me he thought the Taifun was better than the KFM. Any thoughts on this? I'm considering buying one.

Some will say the Taifun is better, most wont. Go with what you know.

Svoemesto (the original maker of the Kayfun) is releasing an updated Kayfun next month...so the rumor goes.

I wonder how long it takes after it hits the market for its clones to come out.

I'm actually looking for something less slim and long than the KFM, that's why the Taifun sort of appeals to me. Perhaps one of the other Kayfun models can do the trick. Any thoughts? I'm thinking the tighter the draw, the better.

Volt, the regular Kayfun Lite plus is shorter and wider. Fits most mods and mechs 23mm wide. Most people in the HHV forum get their clones from VapeRoyalty. It's an HCigar and everyone is happy with them.

I believe they have a black one too if that is more your style. Easy to build. If you can do the mini this will be easier. The Plus has an adjustable air flow control so you can set it anywhere you want.

    Rebuildable Atomizers RBA

I suspect it will be a couple months before the cloners pick up on the updated Kayfuns.

Ha! That's exactly the one that caught my eye (the black one). I see they have it on Fasttech for much cheaper. Check it out.

I think I'm gonna end up buying another KFM, a KFL Plus V2, and a Taifun. :)

I don't know who makes the SlowTech Kayfun. No idea if it is a POS or not. Not all clone makers are the same. There are good ones and there are crappy ones. HCigar has an excellent reputation. Maybe somebody can speak to the SlowTech KFL as I know nothing about them.
