I totally agree, David. I personally am not keen on box mods but there are a whole lot of people who are. Some are DNAers and some are REOnauts (not to mention the iStickers). I have to believe there is a huge market for the tweeners. I would be interested just for the squonking ability...though these large capacity drippers we all been using helps scratch that itch a little anyway.
Grumbles. I would be happy to drop at most 250 bucks on a solid regulated bottom feeder. But no such luck. I absolutely dislike using mechs, but bottom feeding (and REO) is the only reason why I'm even using one. All my other mechs are kicked.

I had a Kick in my Reo Grand when the first iteration of the Kick was released. Why ain't you got a Kick in yours?!
So would I but getting one of the few I've found is hard to do. I'm still thinking about making one or buying something to mod into one.
I'm tailpiping my Lemo filled with Shadow, 1.5 ohms at a mere 13 watts on this 100 watt Sig. It may be like driving a Corvette around the neighborhood at 20 mph, but I'm enjoying the scenery. Tastes terrific, lots of vapor. A darn near perfect vape. [emoji5]

I cannot speak for other Manufacturers, but when you purchase a new Reos Mod the enclosed literature starts something like this;
"Congratulations on the arrival of your new REO ! We hope that this may work out to be the last Personal Vaporizer you will need to buy..."
Rob is serious, and I mean really serious, about making an indestructible mod. The VV Grand had a chip mage by NotCigs (think BuzzPro) that started out quite popular, even when $190 was considered too much for a mod. But the chip began to fail (what man made doesn't) and Rob stopped making them. Rob himself stated that he's "a mechanical guy, not an electronics wizard". I would love to see a Pro Vape circuit in a Reos body, I would consider $300 for such a device. But that's just a pipe dream....
No need for one..The only reason I ever used a Kick2 was for safety..That went out the window the first time I accidentally put my battery in upside down and fried a $45 Kick2.
REO's has the collapsible spring as a precaution against klutzes like me.
I kind of figured Rob never wanted to get into electronics. He seems the type who wants full control of his devices and going electronic takes that portion out of his hands. He's going with his strengths and is totally happy to stay within them. Can't blame him. I might very well do the same thing if I was him.
At the same time, Rob does value his customer base. The Original REONauts were shown pictures of prototypes that had the squonk hole in the door, on the side, oval, square.... and his customers actually put the finishing touches on what became the Reo Grand. I think he has shied away from regulated mods more because it's outside his field of expertise.
If I were Rob, about the only way I would step out of my area of expertise is if I had a trusted confidant who could take the electronics side of the business. I still believe there is a big market out there for an electronic REO. But he has to be totally comfortable going there and short of having a trusted partner I wouldn't want to go there either.
I recoiled my KF for the VF DNA 40. I'm still in love.

Playing with 26 gauge in the Kayfun on this P3. Wow, what a difference this boost makes. Without boost, it takes 5 - 6 seconds to ramp up the heat. With boost (maxed albeit) it takes about 1 second. Need to vape with this 26 gauge more to see how I like the flavor. Producing more clouds though.
