I couldn't tell you what a 1A, 1B, or 1C on a kayfun was if it meant saving my life. All I know is there are eight pieces. A drip tip, top cap, 3 tank segments, a base, chimney, and tin man's hat. And the only one that needs any tinkering is the base w/build deck. None of the other parts matter. If you're telling me you can break down fly fishing reels and bring them back to new then there is no doubt you can master a kayfun.

Just remind yourself...you can't vape with a reel and you can't fish with a Kayfun. They require different levels of maintenance and (I speak from experience), the Kayfuns are much simpler. Disassemble only what needs to be disassembled. If you have a dud Kayfun (or transformed it into a dud), then start over with a new one.

This is the main reason I suggested KK get the KFLite Plus over the KF 3.1 - fewer parts & ease of maintenance. Not having an Aqua 2 I can't give any advice there, but if you have it working well enough, stick with that and tinker with the others - or consider getting a KFL Plus if your budget is up to it.

I've only had to replace one or two o-rings over the past, what is it a year already? And never had to replace an insulator.

Kkay, if you'd like a copy of the KF 3.1 user manual I can email you a copy. Send me a PM with your details.

What I would like to know is, Why has the Collector tank never come up in conversation before?!
I think it's because the few of us that have the 3.1 took it for granted that the collector tank would collect juice/water/spittle (TMI) and would have to be drained. I have my original KFL, the Mini and a 3.1 in operation. The KFL+ V2 clone went out of commission when I broke a drill bit in it trying to open up the air intake.

I just replaced an o-ring on the Rose clear tank section - don't know why I even bothered to take that section apart in the first place.

You know that you can buy a base for something like $5 at FT right?! A buddy of mine did that recently.

Nope, didn't even think to look for a replacement for it. I'll have to check that out. Thanks DD!
I'm kind of afraid that it'll have the same problem with the small air intake hole. I was actually thinking about getting the KF v4 instead.

Actually, they're about the same price, Bronze; Retic's link is 51 Canadian dollars which is 42.56 USD. Either way it's gonna be a while before I pull the trigger. Savings are down to nil.

Yeah, I'm in no hurry to get a K4. I may never get a K4. I'm not seeing a significant advantage in them over my KFLs. But for someone who needs a Kayfun it would be a good choice. Especially for someone like you who wants more airflow.

only 3 attys are known to be really good.... Magma, RSST ( had to throw that one in there) and the Aqua ( even tho I dont own one yet)...
Hmmmm , let's see if you remember this . The day my first Rose V2 came in the mail , I showed up at the BM you worked at with a fully functioning Rose V2 putting out serious flavor . No leaks , no flooding , no issues . The only thing that's changed since that day is that I can rebuild and rewick a Rose dam near as fast as a Kayfun . My original assessment still stands , The Aqua equals the Rose but it doesn't surpass it .
