PapawBrett...Not so much concave as bell shaped brother..It's stepped up at the ACR as you can see here:

Just above the 2mm hole

...and as you can see here the RM4 is somewhat bell shaped from center to top.

Sorry about the pooch..she wouldn't move her big head. :p

Maybe we talked him into it.:)

Haven't changed my mind about regulated. Just wanted to make sure I could build something that worked first. And to find out if I like a bottom feed. The internals are from things I had here. 510 from a Ego bat with a screw I drilled for it. Switch I made for it. I'm doing this on the cheap to be used at home. Just glued the connector and switch in tonight. Still have some adjustments to make and mod a atty or buy a cheap one.

Have you decided on a finish yet?

It's oak that I had for something else. The plan was to stain it then polyurethane. But I've decided to just leave it as is. I put some Old English on it today and will again. The wood should be sealed but I'm not going to worry about it for now. If I do another one I'll give it the full treatment.

I'm not sure about the flavor I'm getting off the Squape. First fill was nickel and DF. Tasted a little off, so I thought, maybe it's the nickel. So I did kanthal with a custard. Tastes a little off, maybe it's the custard? Washed everything out, back to nickel cool and the DF... Now it tastes like traces of my custard are stillin there. Maybe it's the emetal coating? Maybe it needs more use to get seasoned like a nice cast iron pan??? Maybe I'm just not used to anything other than my KFL? Maybe the squape isn't so good on flavor???

Not sure. Giving it more time. It's easy to build, fill and plenty of air and vapor but what is this weird taste???

I have no idea about the nickel but I notice a difference in taste between kanthal and nichrome , I much prefer the kanthal , nichrome has an off flavor to me . I don't know too much about the Squape in regards to flavor , but I do know it has anodized aluminum in it , it shouldn't require seasoning .

My experiment with the vertical coil in the Rose worked but it did create the same problem I had with the vertical kayfun build , it drastically cut down on the airf flow . Luckily I found an alternate wicking method by Roxy on the Rose V2 thread that works beautifully without loading the Rose like a washing machine . :)

anodized aluminum is a "porous" surface.... imagine a sponge on plate glass..... the sponge being the anodization, the glass the actual aluminum...

So it could absorb flavors? I don't have tastes like this in my nickel builds on the KF's. It's not the nickel. Although I did take the effort to rule it out for certain.
