E-cigs are all fine and dandy, but there's lots of fiddling with cartridges, batteries and whatnot, so I'm going to give Snus a go. Ordered a roll (no point getting just one can, is there?) from Buysnus on thursday, got it today (tuesday), general mini portion.

Popped one after lunch and damn, it's strong stuff. Absolutely no desire to vape or smoke and the taste isn't half bad. Popped another one just now, even though I didn't actually have a craving, just that my co-worker went for a cigarette. Was probably a mistake, as I'm feeling slightly queasy, so I probably need to readjust after having lowered my nicotine intake through vaping.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Do take it slow. The nicotine in snus has a slower absorption rate for someone used to the instant kick of inhaling tobacco smoke. But the nicotine also rises and stays at a high level longer with snusing. So this is like stuffing food into your hungry mouth. It takes your stomach 20 minutes to shout back "I'm full now" and you've overeaten. Upchuck ahead!

You might not think snus is working if you judge impact five minutes after you put one in your mouth. A cig takes 7 seconds to hit you. Snus takes about 10 minutes to get you up -- but you stay up and won't need another for an hour or more. With a cig, it's every 30 minutes, come hell or high water.

P.S. I've gotten sick from snusing too fast.

Hey guys, wanted to keep you updated. Been doing Snus exclusively for almost 3 days now and I must say I'm quite happy with it. I tried the exclusive Blue Thunder that I got free with my order last night and I have mixed feelings about it. The nicotine hit is a bit too much for me, but I do like the taste, which sadly doesn't last very long.

Edit: Got my dry mint today, much less aggressive in taste than the original portion I was using, yet the nicotine is still there, so that's good.

Just wondering, these taste a little sweet, is there sugar in them, i.e. are they more dangerous for the teeth?

That's why I left e-smoking for snus. Don't get me wrong. E-smoking WORKED like a charm. It's how I originally quit. But in the end, it's too high maintenance and too much crap to carry around. I still have a set of working e-cigs, right under 100ml of 24mg tasteless e-liquid, which I blend down to 3-4 mg nic solution, with kahlua flavoring. I just haven't used it since April or May of '09.

I have really been getting into the los snus lately. It's so easy to do a micro-hit with the Icetool

Well, about 3 weeks into using Snus and I'm kinda thinking about trying Los for that exact reason, i.e. getting exactly the right amount.

On that note, is it just me or does one's nicotine tolerance/need vary a lot? Or is it rather that the portions are uneven? I swear sometimes I take a regular sized thunder and it's just fine, other times, I have to take it out after a couple of minutes because it's way too strong.

Well I've discovered that if I don't pay attention to when the last one was in, I can get the lightheaded buzz. A Thunder mini will keep the cravings away between an hour and a half to two hours.

If I get busy like I did yesterday and do a back to back in about 40 minutes, UGH, not good.

Thanks for the ingredient checker - v useful! I'd been wondering about possible tooth decay, though I guess when I eventually graduate to dentures I can still snus as much as I like!! ??

C.

Most people who have switched from american snuff to snus have noted a big improvement in the whole dental thing. Same thing for going from smoking to snus.

I'm not going to saying it's harmless, but with reasonable dental care habits I don't know of anyone who has had serious problems. A few people have noticed a slight gum recession where the snus touches the gum line, and yes, a bit of staining is possible.

A sonicare and floss can go a long way to preventing any problems.
