Dear Jack,
First of all, I would like to congradulate you on the NDP's success in the last elections. I am a NDP'er all the way. Always have been, always will be.
The reason why I am writing you this e-mail is to ask for your help, your party's help to Legalise Electronic Cigarettes and The liquid that is used to operate these devices which in the USA contains Nicotine. It's not ......... for crying out loud, it's Nicotine, which is in all currently legal tobacco products.
I am speaking on behalf of many thousands of Canadian citizens who are currently using Electronic Cigarettes as an Alternative to using real tobacco. We are adults and know the risks of tobacco and nicotine. I am one of these citizens.
Electronic Cigarettes create a vapor mist (Water) that is inhaled by the user, which contains NO Nicotine at the moment in CANADA because of Health Canada.
There is no tar, no carbon monoxide, no actual smoke and none of the other 4000+ chemicals thats in cigarettes when burned. No second hand smoke, only water vapor. Absolutely no danger to anyone around a person using an E-CIG. Some e-liquid is manufactured with PG, Propylene Glycol, and others with VG, Vegetable Glycerin. Neither is toxic or harmful in any way. I personally use VG with NO Nicotine. I am using Nicorette Gum to replace the Nicotine at the moment.
What we want is our freedom back. Our freedom to choose our path. Nicotine is legal in Tobacco, and in quitting products like Nicorette. This is why I feel, WE ALL feel it should be legal for us to buy and use as an alternative to smoking real tobacco. At this moment, we do not like, or agree with Health Canada in any way. We feel we are being cheated of the right to chose.
Is it because of Tax Dollars? or pressure from the big pharma companies who make things like Nicorette? Are they scared of losing alot of money?
Why should I care about them If it's my health we're talking about here, and my right of choosing my fate as a Canadian citizen.
Three days ago, I stopped using tobacco. To be exact, cigarettes. I used to smoke a pack a day, and love to smoke. I loved the ideal of using the E-CIG since I believe in it's benefits 100%. In only 3 days, I feel so much better. I feel like I'm in control of myself once again. The fact of not smoking cigarettes for 3 days, for me, is a miracle.
I thank the E-CIG for it. It is an incredible product that only a TRUE smoker can truly realise.
It is an injustice that Health Canada has banned Nicotine in e-liquid. It's sad really, since Tobacco is so much more dangerous and a killer. Even MY doctor told me to use the E-CIG, she agrees totally with it. If a professional Doctor can, why can't Health Canada too? They need to wake up and smell the coffee Jack.
I am still using the E-CIG as I type this e-mail to you, and don't care about Health Canada's bogus claims. I feel so much better since I switched, and will never go back to regular tobacco. I will even make my own e-liquid If I have too, even If it contains no nicotine. I am not brave enough to mess around with pure nicotine as I am not a scientist.
I hope you understand, from a smokers point of view, how valuable the E-CIG really is to us, and as the official Opposition party, We ask your help. We voted you in. Please Help.
Please help your fellow Canadian citizens in making these LEGAL. The USA's FDA is about to do so, So Why can't we?

My E-liquid is VG 100% with no Nicotine. RY Flavor.
