AW is (Allen Wang) IMR is (battery technology/chemistry) 18650 is (size of battery)
What your need is the IMR firstly then the size to make sure it fits AW is just approved my Mr Wang, A foreign guy who signed off on them
Basiclly AW is a name, say you like T shirts but you dont like the GAP on the Gap shirts so you goto American Eagle for the same shirt with a different logo

Test/Review of AW IMR 18650 1600mAh (Red)

Thanks Mellow.

Well, I'm obviously no battery expert (yet), but I have been doing a lot of reading recently, and I guess what I'm getting at now is that LF lists thier imr batts in a section for "protected li-ion" batts, when imrs are really unprotected safe-chemistry li-mn batts... And that kinda threw me off a few weeks ago when I first looked at them. Other vendors are also not saying thier imrs are li-mn, and I think they all should because ecf is now saying that li-mn are the best/safest batt, and some folks may not realize that imr = li-mn. Let me know if I have any of this wrong. :) This is not a knock on LF, I like them and have spent much $ with them.

Dragon,
thanks for mentioning that. I knew the IMR's were a 'safer' chemistry, but understood that as being 'protected' (protected = safe ??). Looks like my misunderstanding.

So the consensus is we have these listed incorrectly? Let's try to fix that.

The entire Product Rnage, is called Li-Ion Batteries and Chargers. so we need to change that to Rechargeable Batteries and Chargers

Then, I have the IMR's listed under Protected Batteries... We can make a new Product Group for those, and call them High Drain Batteries.

I'll update that know, and link when complete.

That'll be good to have a separate High Drain group anyway, as I was hoping to get other sizes in stock. Does anyone have special requests?

Ty

HOW'S THIS: Mods - Batteries & Chargers ?

I think that is much better!

Maybe stick 'em up top though, right under the charger so people see them. I like the imrs SO much more, that extra half volt or so under load really makes a difference.

I've only used 18650s so far, but I would like to make a smaller mod eventually. So I would also liked to know what some of the more popular smaller sizes are...
