Liquer as a flavor

I've not done it myself, but I've read many people here saying they're used the clearer liquors (not liqueur) such as scotch as a flavoring. As far as the non-clear types, it'd be worth a shot, I suppose. You might test them with an atty that you don't mind if you kill. Things with high sugar contents are likely to foul your atty and carmelized sugar isn't so easy to clean out.
