If it indeed tastes chemical then it's a bad batch. You can also try to taste a little directly with a spoon too.
I've only ones gotten a bad batch glycerin, and although it was 100% vegetal-based, then it had a smell and taste of bacon and gone-bad fatty oil...
It should only have a sweet thick warm natural taste like syrup and nothing else, with a very slightly sour'ish note at times, although different vg's can taste slightly different, but i've not seen chemical yet...
Btw, the vg you got from liquid-barn, is high-quality palm-based indonisian vg from musim mas, one of the worlds biggest producers of palm and palm-glycerin. It's used by a bunch, also e.g. nicotine-river etc. It's high viscosity, very low water(0.08'ish) and 99.9% glycerol content, whereas e.g. essential-depot is 99.84% glycerol, which still is much better than spec(USP is min 99%) . I've only seen 99.9% glycerol twice before; with musim mas and another rapeseed-based vg from a UK distributor;
kilo ltd. sold e.g. by piratesvape in uk.
