"Nicotine levels were 100 times (or whatever) higher"

So what ?? Modern science can measure totally insignificant levels of anything. Is the level they measured in any way damaging?

Second point: These statements all assume that Nicotine is the bad thing in cigarettes. We know that's not the case. So why is a tiny level of Nicotine automatically assumed to be bad ? I'll bet they would measure much higher levels of Caffeine in houses of coffee drinkers!

This reminds me of the old government movie "......(SP?) Madness" from the 30's. In there they claimed that ......... made people extremely mentally ill. Like they would have to be committed to a mental institution. It's really funny. The same thing is going on today with Nicotine. The government doesn't care about facts. Anything to scare people. And people have fallen for it.

P.S. I don't smoke ......... or encourage anyone else to do it.

Hah! Good points, I think nicotine is probably one of the least harmful things in cigarettes.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand study on nicotine levels in common foods

interesting read, check out the table on page 15...did you know we ingest about 4.5 micrograms per kilogram of potatoes we eat?

we also ingest 812 micrograms per kilogram (water weight) of nicotine when we drink darjeeling tea, and varying amounts in most other teas.

I wonder if the researchers for the original study are aware of this?
