I had been reading up on whether or not I wanted to try and rebuild eVod and ProTank coils on my own. Read a lot of posts, watched a few youtube videos and decided it would be something I'd try- I just haven't gotten the stuff yet. At any rate, went to clean coils on a couple eVods that had gotten gunked up and the flavor wicks were trashed. (Yay-I know what flavor wicks are now!!!)
[I digress...back to the story] Instead of just cleaning two, I decide I'd clean them all...
Did I mention yet that I haven't ordered any supplies???? So, I don't have replacement wicks, mine are all "crudded up" (official vaping term), I don't have yarn, no butchers twine, no wicks. BUT - here I am, cleaning every coil head I have except the one I am vaping on (which is just about to be all cruded up) and I have yanked all of the flavor wicks off! This was one of those O-CRAP-O-LA moments!!
What's a gal to do????? HMMMM - I remember a fellow talking about using strands of cotton gauze. I thought at the time, "Gauze? Seriously? That'll never work right!". BUT - in an O-CRAP-O-LA moment, a gal marches her happy (well maybe not so happy) rear-end straight to the first aid kit to find gauze. Guess what? Gauze works as flavor wicks! Works pretty well as a matter of fact.
All day - vaped an entire ProTank and one of the eVods - refilled this evening - everything is nice & clean and still intact. Flavor was good all day.
So, what's the morale to this story? If you are going to be a bonehead and go "all in" cleaning coils and throwing out flavor wicks, make sure your first aid kit still has gauze in it!
