The original subox kit is one of the smallest to take 18650 batteries, prices dropped a bit lately too to $50.9 with coupon KSMGB Kanger Subox Mini 50W Variable Wattage Box Mod Kit VV VW Mod with Subtank Mini RBA-79.90 and Free Shipping| GearBest.com
also for a mod with built in batteries theres the istick 40w with temp control currently at $27.99 Original Eleaf iStick TC 40W VW Variable Wattage Box Mod Temperature Control Mod-28.90 and Free Shipping| GearBest.com
I think the nano kit might be slightly smaller but can't be that much if it takes 18650s also.

Ok, somebody please talk me out of buying this. KSD Vamo 25w. Istick mini-ish mod, removable 18350, usable wattage, cheap as hell.

Not sure if it was mentioned in this thread (I find ECF's Search to be somewhat unwieldy)...but...there is a built-in 1800mAh version available...

Although I, personally, have no interest in using TC until a little further research is done regarding possible leeching of nickle into eliquids...for me...to buy a mod without TC would be foolhardy (even if I currently would not use the TC mode).

Thus...since they do not have TC...I've knocked the KBOX Nano (and the KBOX Mini, HV Defender 50W and Coolfire IV) off my "Little itty bitty mods under $100" to consider list.

Also....in addition to the KBOX Nano not having TC...it also loses out to the Cloupor Mini Plus in size:

Cloupor Mini Plus...22mm x 37mm x 78.5mm...63,899mm³

KBOX Nano...22mm x 38mm x 82mm...68,552mm³

Cloupor mini plus 50W Ni200 and Titanium Smart-Auto Temperature Control Box Mod

I looked at that Cloupor mini...really like the really wide range on the volts and watts...as in going lower as well as higher! May keep an eye out for this.

I got an ijoy Asolo recently. The mod has TC using kanthal wire. From my mini review on kent's thread in vet forum:

----
Got the HG package today - sent Monday :thumb: Wayne sent the 'other stuff' along with the ijoy asolo and will send the kbox mini later (on HG's shipping).

The ijoy asolo is the biggest mod I have now :- ) ... a tad taller than the Joyetech VT but the same width, depth. I'm using the GS Air TC (except with the kanthal coil - 1.5Ω) and it goes through a 'learning' cycle to set temp to taste - you set your wattage first then go to TC.... Wayne tested it. ... The thing is, once the temp is set at, for me, at 400° it sets wattage at 15W, but then I drop the wattage to @12.5 and the temp is lower of course. So I'm thinking that anyone vaping below 15W is never really going to need TC in any form. I did crank it up to 30W (33W is the 'limit' suggested for 1.5Ω coils.) and it didn't burn or taste burnt - something I couldn't do on any other mod.... I can't go to 20W (on a premade coil) on any of my flavors without burning.... and it will go to 200W in Ni and Ti at lower ohms of course.
----

I'm not absolutely sure if what I say about 'no need for TC at anything below 15W' with kanthal, but the mod (and the math) seems to be 'telling me' that :- )

So, while perhaps 'foolhardy', I'm not convinced that TC at the wattages I vape, is a 'requirement' for me at this point. :) And while I gave the ijoy mod a good test, I still prefer the smaller footprint and rounded corners of the Kbox mini and Defenders, so the ijoy isn't seeing much use at this point. If there is a smaller kanthal TC mod in the future - it would be 'under consideration' however, again, not a requirement, for me at least.

As far as size goes, I'm not looking for the absolute smallest (replaceable batt) mod - for example the istick 20 and 30 size is a bit small for my hand, whereas the Kbox mini and the Defender fit well. In fact, the Kbox nano - I'll have to compare sizes - may also be too small. But I posted the above link for this thread since it went on pre-sale recently.

That said, I like the looks and features of the Clouper mini + . Thanks for posting it. I came as close as one could get in getting the original Clouper mini right before the melt down thing which I consider, from all reports, is no longer a problem.

Thanks for the review, Kent. It just reinforces my feeling about temp control mods. I vape in the 8-10W range about 99% of the time and can't see that TC would improve my vape in any way. I can't remember the last time I got a dry hit - maybe way back when I was vaping those Vivi Nova top feed coils.

Same here Linda - except mine was with the Kanger T2 coils.. :) Which were actually good top coils but you had to know how to handle them ;)

Thanks, Kent. Nice write up.

And since I vary between tootle and modwomp, I guess I won't miss TC either :)

(And, if my Cloupor Mini is any indication, no problems at all. It's proving to be a very reliable device. BUT I don't use the USB charging, and certainly not as a pass thru. IMO, why bother with that, when it's replaceable anyway? Much quicker and easier to pop in a fresh one.

My exact sentiments. IF I wanted to use usb, I'd get another Defender :- )

P4Y IPV D2 – step down in power mode + starts shipping @ FT | Daisychainvaper

The D2 IS capable of stepping down in Joule (Temperature control) mode. It switches from DC to PWM there. So take your kanthal build, switch to TC mode, set the Joules to your desired wattage (Joules = Watts with YiHi chips) and just to be sure: maximize the temperature.
Temperature protection will not kick in as kanthal does not change its resistance.

Originally the confusion was there because most shops just stated “Output voltage: 1.0V-7V”. In fact it is:

Output voltage: 3.6V-7V (Power mode)
Output voltage: 1.0V-7V (Joules mode)

i see i'm way late ;) but it's all good since that was one of my concerns

thanks, kent!

You're being kind. The new software does not seem to be search friendly at all. If anyone knows a trick, please do share!

That little Cloupor made its way into my watch list, thanks to you, gerry. Altho, like many of you, I have little interest in TC at this time. Having said that, I will be getting a TC mod tomorrow!! I didn't choose it for the TC tho, but for the style, shape, and pocketability.

As would I.

Oh, wait. As DID I. ;) (yeppers, another Defender, from your favorite store, is headed my way, Kent!)

do we have the ipv d2 on the list, gerry? replaceable 18650 ;)

tibs, anyone who is up for it can add to or edit "The Sheet". It's kind of a mess now, but oh welp, it's open to the public. :)

Have at it, if you like.

Oh! DO tell, Katdarling, what you have chosen? I'm drooolin on that Sbody Macro. It's not fitting on my curve yet, they need to up the power or drop the price some. But we'd love to know what the Kween of Tootlers is vampin...

Yikes, sorry. :(

I still can't remember how to add a link like that without the spreadsheet showing up here.

Tis easy. Just make some words like "Itty Bitty Spread Sheet" then highlight them, and click the link (looks like a solid chain link on the toolbar) and insert the address into the popup. Easy Peasy Betty Boop.

Thanks for the swiffer attempts, LLB. But once the door was opened (and the rainy dogs walked in)..... it was inevitable.

Welp, this Tootler Kween is not getting an itty bitty under one hundred buckaroonies, so that's why I've been on the kwiet side. It IS small, and I call it my "Seatbelt" mod. G'wan. Guess.
