I rather like that pipe... [emoji38]

So you recommend the V2?
Yup. I'm an info junkie, and the pipe - no matter how cute - ain't info. If it's any consolation, I bought mine from LV right as they were changing over. Called 'em up and complained that they'd sent me a knock off because it didn't have the pipe :)

Go with the V2 if you must, I've seen a lot of people complain that the first one spontaneously dies. I believe it's the wiring that isn't up to par but it's been a while since I looked in to it.

There's also a Geekvape version, from what I gather it is more reliable, that would be the one I'd buy.

I've got the V1, I'm meh with it. The rubber feet would be nice, it slides around more than you think.
I was utterly disappointed with the leads for checking resistance, the main reason I went with this model. Just putting the leads together I can get readings all over the place, I can't trust the readings I get.
Off the 510 everything reads fine, it's accurate and the fire option is a nice addition.
That's my opinion.

(Piping in) I've got the v2 and the Geekvape. I like both, for different reasons, but the Geekvape pin on mine stopped working, and it will no longer fire. It's the only one that I've heard this happening to, so it's not indicative of a problematic device (at least not to my knowledge).

That notwithstanding, I do have a personal preference to the CoilMaster one. It feels like it's a bit more sturdy, and I like the fact that it tells me how much battery remains inside itself. Silly, yes, but consider the source.

All in all though, I think that both are good, and anyone would likely be pleased with either choice.

I almost forgot, but there's also a clone of the V2. I think they sell 'm on Gearbest. A buddy from another forum has one of those and he actually prefers it over the original.

Oh wait, I found it. It comes in different colors (even camo, lol) but this one is on flash-sale now: 521 Tab Ohm and Voltage Tester

Is that a clone of the v1 or the v2? I see the pipe...

For the extra $6, I'd probably opt for the authi (but that's just me). The dang things just WORK.

That was my thought as well. $10-15, I'll wait the shipping time out, $6, not so much.

I've used the geekvape version. While I like it well enough, I prefer the coil master. The geekvape offers fewer options and is a,true fingerprint magnet... no, really... it'll pull in fingerprints from up to 3 feet away...

I also have the Tab V2 and find it indispensable. It has replaced my multimeter. I too thought the pipe was cool and was disappointed when it wasn't there and wondered if I got a clone but I've come to love the voltage read out. Like Shawn said the pipe was worthless. This is one of those tools that I want a backup for. It's just so much easier to build with this than trying to build on a tippy mod.

Now I'm not so sure anymore, lol, I'll check with my buddy next time I run in to him.

The authentic is around 49 euro over here which is close to 60 US bucks I think, so it makes a bit more difference for us.

YOWZA!!!

Definitely a difference maker. :(

Yeah, most things are almost twice as expensive over here, it's not all bad in the US of A ;)

Luckily we get the same deals as you do from those China shops though, that helps. I just wish they sold US made custom knives as well, lol
