Now... Have some questions for the ProVari owners here. I'd ask in the Provarinati threads but I know the answers I'd get there. ;) I trust the posters here.

I'm generally vaping in the 15-18W range now. The ProVari 2.5 only goes to 15W correct?

Is there really a difference in the quality of vape twixt the ProVari and other "high end" mods; ie DNAs, YiHis, Dicodes, etc? Is the ProVari power that much cleaner/better?

As much as I'd like to own a ProVari, I'm not really a fan of tube mods. I'm wondering if I should just take the $30 and put it towards a SbS/AIO or squonker. Now if a Radius blem was up for $30, there would be no question of grabbing one.

The differences that once existed are no longer the case. Way back when, its smoothness was very unique (along with the Darwin & BuzzPro). Today, there are many that are at least close to its equal (the DNA40 is definitely on that list). So now it's main appeal is the ridiculous durability, and the fact that you can have them repaired & returned in less than a week.

Is there a difference in the vape between it and a Defender? Yes, there is. But it's no longer so big that it actually matters. The Defenders are wonderful little devices. All things being equal, I'm fairly confident that my Provis will outlast them, but who's to say (for sure)?

Low wattage, si! But if it fits one's needs, it's still one HECKUVA mod, be at at $30, or even at $50. It still screams "QUALITY!" It's no longer on a high-and-far platform though, that's for sure. We have evolved (no Brandon-pun intended)!

I hope this helps. Alden.

Oh! One other thing.

Their design is conducive to regular maintenance, which allows for the user to keep the pins & contacts almost acting like new, with relative ease. Very well thought out devices, in all aspects.

Now that I've drunken the cool aid, I am going to need to power my 2.5. I definitely want to pick up one or two 18490's and I would also like as large a capacity 18650 button top.

Suggestions?

Yessir, Cap'n.

My personal (current) favorites are:
18650 Battery 20A 3000mAh IMR High Drain Orbtronic USA

Specify button top when (if) placing order.

And I'm afraid I'm not experienced with 18490's, so I'll leave that to an expert.

Thanks, was hoping to get both from the same place to save shipping. I should have thrown a couple of the $3.00 18490's in when I ordered. I went back and tried to change the order but it wouldn't let me.

You had already placed it, I take it. Sorry - I should have grabbed a couple of those and included them with a link. :(

I meant I should have gotten some 18490's from Provape when I ordered the mod. I'm still shopping around for batteries.

GOT IT!

That Orb site is great. I've been buying from them since early 2012, and have had nothing but great luck. RTD is very good too.

The Orb's are re-branded Panasonic, if my memory serves....

Sooo...it's been since 2013 since I messed with replaceable batteries, and my mind is a fog. I have some older ones that I'm pretty sure I can use (at least some of them) because I am a confirmed tootler and never stray past 8 watts (ever). BUT...things have changed over the years! I am thinking that the 18490 size would be nice to use sometimes, but I'm having trouble finding the higher mAh quality type that will work with the Provari 2.5. Am I understanding right that they have to have button tops? I can find 18650s with button tops up the wazoo....but seem to be having trouble with the 18490s......

Help? Anyone?

For my $$, this is a better choice:
Presa TC 75W by Wismec $29.99

The 40 is a fixed battery, the 75, same size, is replaceable battery (18650 flat top). And only $6 more....

Buttons only, my 4th. These are good, for an extra 1/2 inch of length (or something), you can bump up to 3000mAh. To me, it's always been a no-brainer.

*NEW* AW IMR 18490 3.7v 1200mAh

Bigger IS better.
