I got a pico, but since I just wanted to put it away for when I might need it, I didn't buy any batteries or a charger, and figured those will always be available. Now, I'm thinking I should make sure it works before it's too late to return it. And I was silly to think I wouldn't want to at least try it out.

I want to vape as close to 5 watts as I can, and of course I want safety, so what kind of battery and what kind of charger?

Thanks for the help so far, and in advance for any further help...

I like xtar chargers, I have one (VP2) that will charge from a car cigarette lighter as well as from the wall.

Just as an added FYI on this subject (and thank you for posting the chart, Woofs), Mooch told me that he'll be testing the new Efest 18500 in a couple of weeks. He said that if the 18500's are the same as the 18350's and 26650's then multiple companies will be using the same cell under the wrap. He thinks the Efests might actually be decent, like their 26650's which are identical to the Basen's and Brillipower's.

His results, of course, will be posted 'everywhere'. :)

Always test your equipment before you put it away. Always.

For long term storage, wrap it in saran wrap or vacuum pack, (you may include a small silicone gel pack to keep it dry) and store in a cool, dark and dry place.
Dark I can do, but I'm probably gonna be without air conditioning this summer, so I'll do as best I can with cool and dry. Gel pack, good idea.
I like and own a Nitecore Itellicharger and an Xtar--both are excellent. Two-bay model is all you need.
5 watts? any of the top rate battereis will be an overkill for 5 watts, so you don't have to worry. Grab one of the 3000 mAh ones and it will last you three days or more. :D
But lower mah would be OK, I'm guessing. 3000mah might last me a week or two, and I've never used anything higher than 650mah. Is something like 1500mah any safer, or any advantage?
I love my LG-HE2 3000 mAh and the Samsung 30Q 3000 mAh 20A, but buy those from a reputable vendor--RTD Vapor, Orbtronic or Illumination Supply. :)
Thanks, Katya. I bought it hoping I'll never need it, but now I'm starting to think I might like using a mini mod, after having read so many posts on this thread. And seeing lots of pictures. Yeah, the pictures... Still gonna buy one ot two more...

Thanks, Woofer. I saved that chart for future reference.

Any chargers that can charge 18350 and 18650, or would I need separate chargers?

Thanks! Do you know what their capacity is? 800 mAh (and 1,200 mAh, really) is a drag. Even with my style of vaping.

Go for the highest capacity (longest lasting battery), since you (and I
wink.gif
) don't have to worry about Amps... 10A, 20A, 25A, makes no difference. Only people who vape at high wattages need to worry about that. 2,500 and 3,000 mAh batteries last forever and that's really nice and give you plenty of overhead.

It's a story that's been told before, but...

A friend of mine named @Katdarling once told me, around the time of Bill Clinton's 2nd inauguration, "You know, President Clinton and I are buddies."

I said, "Sure you are."

He said, "No, really! Just turn on your TV tonight to the Inaugural Ball. You'll see me."

Sure enough, I turned on the TV that night, and there was Kat, talking to President Clinton with her arm around the guy.

Not long after, I was talking to Kat about how much I admired Johnny Depp as an actor. Kat said, "Oh, he's a good friend."

I said, "Noooo!"

Kat said, "Let's hop in my car". She drove me to the bar Johnny Depp owns, and as we sipped drinks,

Johnny happened to walk by, immediately exclaimed "Kat!" and fell into Kat's arms.

This was getting spooky. Kat seemed to know everyone! I tested Kat with a few more people. We were back in the Bay Area. Kat was telling me she was buddy-buddy with Jerry Brown. We went to a Press Conference at Oakland City Hall, and just before Brown started answering questions, he said "I see my friend Kat out there."

Same kind of thing happened when we went to Bob Dylan's house and rang the bell. Bob answered the door, said "Kat!" gave my friend a big hug, and invited us in for drinks.

I was becoming a believer, but then one day we were having another conversation and Kat said something about "my friend the Pope."

I said, "You can't know him, too!" Kat said, "Wanna bet?"

Kat happens to be very well off, so she flew the both of us to Rome. We took a cab to St. Peters Square. We were standing in the big crowd below the balcony of the Pope's apartment. Kat said, "Excuse me for a little while" and disappeared into the crowd.

A little while after that, John Paul appeared on the balcony and started blessing people. And who should be up there beside him but...you guessed it!

I was utterly amazed! I nudged a fellow standing next to me, pointed to the balcony, and said, "Look!"

The guy shaded his eyes with his palm, peered up at the balcony, turned back to me, and said, "Who's that guy up there with Kat?"

Nope, not for the parameters you've said.

In general, the higher mAh the lower the CDR. CDR is the important thing to watch for high power vaping. But for tootling and womping, not such a concern. So more mAh for longer time between charges may be more desireable.

As a confirmed tootler, I tend to go for the highest mAh cells I can get from reputable makers.
