By the way, I work with a group of people who's JOB it is to know the 24 hour clock. Yet, to a person, they ALL have to pull out a conversion sheet. Every time.
"Conversion" is the quickest way to not learn something. See every kid 1970's elementary school kid, and the Metric System (I was one of them). Who CARES how many kilometers are in a mile???

I'm ok at 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock. I just add or subtract 2. 14 o'clock and 22 o'clock. After that I'm lost.
Quite so. Spent a summer in England years back (many years back!), and the spouse had a hard time with currency conversion. Me? Just converted my then monthy income into pounds, looked at it, and figured how to apportion that month's income. No other conversion needed. If I wanted something that was, say, half that, was easy to figure I didn't really need it!

If you must convert, simply subtract 12. The other option is to break the day into quarters.
- 00:00 (midnight)
- 06:00 (6am)
- 12:00 (noon)
- 18:00 (6pm)
if you can remember those four, the rest become pretty easy to recognize.

Ha! Try working it UTC time! Then 6:00pm becomes 1800 o'clock + 4 hours or 2200 o'clock. That's in daylight savings time. If it's winter it's 1800 + 5 (or is that +4 DST and +5 standard?).
But wait! That's only in EST. CST becomes +5 or +6 and PST becomes +6 or +7....
