@dplongo, I have to agree with you about the dna board. I finally set up the little hana one, and admittedly when I first held it I hated it. It feels really cheap to me. That said, it is what I have reached for most in the last 24 hours, not because it is new, but because the vape quality is much different from the vape that I get from other mods. Now I have to go back and get the Mork. Sigh.

For what I paid for it I would never regret the purchase. Given the price, I actually bought it to travel thinking that I wouldn't care if I lost it. Now I realize that I would care.

I'm really digging the S-body with the DNA 40. Smaller even then the Hana but not quite as light with the S-body coming in at 104.5g and the Hana at 87.5g with batteries. I just ordered one for a friend and am going to buy myself another next month.

And I wanted it as a beater mod, but now realize I don't want to beat it up!

Even in VW mode, the Evolv chips are much better than anything else, IMO. It spoils you. That's why my 2 Picos are back in their boxes.

All my mods are my beater mods. I don't abuse them but I also don't baby them. I take whatever I feel like carrying with me at the time. I guess it's one of the reasons I like metal cases over plastic.

The Yihi chips are quite excellent too. I used to give the nod to the DNAs, for simplicity, but the later Yihis added a Novice mode, which leveled that field.

In my opinion you can't go wrong with either. They'll both provide an extraordinarily marvelous vape.

I don't vape features so those differences are neither represented nor considered here. To some though, they'll carry great weight. I certainly understand that concept, and it likely would matter to me if I wasn't such a simpleton vaper.

But...

Actually....

:p

I had a couple of Yihi mods (Boxer and SXM) last year and didn't like them at all. They both either burned my wicks or didn't give me any vapor in temp mode with ni200. Same coils worked fine on my DNA mods. I had to drop the temps to 380°F to get a vape but my wicks were still burnt when I rewicked. I've been using TP on DNA40's for almost a year so it wasn't a noob thing. I tried but in the end, I just sold them off and got more DNA mods.

I guess in wattage mode, it would work fine. I haven't tried any of the new Yihi chips since. I also build my own and the warranty from Yihi was ridiculous. They solder crappy wire on their boards and if you use a solder on their boards, your warranty is void. And they sell bare boards! You can run your Evolv board over with a truck and they will warranty it. I bought a Hana v200 and when Hana did nothing, Evolv stepped up and fixed my v200 free of charge. The 2 issues I had were a pinched screen ribbon which they sent a replacement for (they offered to replace it themselves but that's easy) and a ground issue. I can't solder on SS (the 510) and the cheapest flux to solder on SS is sold by the gallon at $120/gal. I sent them the mod and they did it free and same day turnaround. I've heard of guys really screwing up the soldering on their new DNA200 boards and get warranty replacements so my experience wasn't out of the norm.

That's why I'm an Evolv fan boy. Well, that and they have the best darn chips on the market. :)

I TC everything that will TC (most of the time). I find the DNA boards to be the smoothest, the Yihi are OK (I still get a rapid-fire pulsing), but I also like the new SMOK boards (after they stepped on their whoozits with the Xpro M80 plus), and the Joyetech Boards (to include Wismec, Joyetech, VapeForward, and Eleaf). Oddly enough, older Sigelei mods are more accurate than the newer ones... I like the Hohmtech FSK, but it's not (yet) a DNA. The Aethon from Innokin is no slouch, either...

For the record, I have TC mods from Tesla, Evolv, Sigelei, Asmodus, Smok/Koopor, Joyetech/Wismec/Eleaf, Yihi, Artery, Infinite, Cloupor/Smoant, Vaporesso, Kanger, Innokin, Movkin, Athena, Hugo (Boxer).

Have I missed any?

I guess I should also mention that I vastly prefer SS316L, but have and use Ni200, Ti#1, and SS430.

No argument from me on the fine details, guys. Like I said, my initial comments were strictly related to vape-quality, and at the most basic of levels.

Since the only time I ever use temperature control it involves either (a) drinking a glass of water, or (b) adjusting a box on a wall in my house, absolutely none of those references apply (but thanks for the input, since it may be valuable to others).

Using blister-packed coils, or non TC rebuildable ones, the vape quality from both the DNA (40) and the Yihi (350/450) are almost equally marvelous; at least to my taste buds. The Aetheon chip from Innokin is also excellent (again, me), but a slight notch less so than the other two. After those three, I experience a discernible difference. I still enjoy a lot of the others, so don't get me wrong, but I do notice the change.

I'll also say that I did not like the DNA20s (and I had a ton of them). I never bought any 30s, so the 40s are my first experiences since, and I'm now well over a year into those. For my tastes, they were a difference maker, and I absolutely love them. I'm finding the 75 to be equally awesome (11 watts of pure, unadulterated power here!), and I'm thrilled with those too.

I'm obviously not a fan-boy of any particular chip maker, possibly because I don't do anything with them but vape - wouldn't know one from the other if I were to set eyes on them. All of my opinions are formed in my mouth, so to speak.

Like everything vape, these opinions are subject to vary, as none of us are exactly alike. Others' experience may, and likely will, differ greatly from my own.
Just one of the many wonders of this hobby/obsession we share.

Saludas, amigos. :toast:

But those DO apply, DP.

Must stay hydrated, and vape at a comfortable temp :)

I also use Temp Control.

shower
car
oven
home
rain sleet snow (oh sorry, we don't have those)

One's choice of chip is far above any info I've ever wished to explore. Like you, DPL, I can abstolutely sense a difference between the DNA40 and the DNA75 in contrast to the "lesser" chips.

I've yet to experience the Yihi........ but that might change tonite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you.
