This is what I've been eying for awhile. Not dna, but I like my old eVic mini, and this one is rather sweet looking. And well priced.

$33.88 Authentic Joyetech eVic Primo Mini 80W TC VW APV Box Mod - 1-80W / 200-600'F(100-315'C) / 1*18650 / OLED screen display / quick charge / real-time clock / preheat function at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

But it has "issues," I hear.

What "issues"?

@pufZeppelin - if you're still around (and we HAVE missed you), please come on down. You're the eVic Primo Mini expert!!!!

Altho, at the end of the day, I am more than happy to have my Jackies (JAC Series B mod) than any of these.

Those are gorgeous. And expensive. :)

Anyway, still window shopping. Nothing urgent, but I like to stay informed. My needs are so minimal--MTL, 10-20W tops, mostly power mode.

My iStick 20 is still going strong!

VapeCige - $68.32

SBoday Artisan - $63.50

JAC Vapour Series B - $79.99 (less the inevitable and subsequent 20% off)

Oh no, dear! I wasn't for a second suggesting that JACs are unreasonably priced. All quality DNA (single battery) mods are in that price range (or higher); 40-buck deals are few and far between. And I have no desire to buy a cheapo mod. I like quality.

I'm just not quite there yet. I haven't converted to TC yet. Love my Kanthal coils.

Typed while puffing on my Kay5 on top of Wismec Presa 75W. ;)

Weak battery messages, for one thing. Battery life. Door hinges not quite perfectly made.

That's just from reading reviews, here and there.

Got one in just a few weeks ago. Battery life was an issue, until I changed the default screen timeout from, darn, crs, either 10 or 5 minutes down to 1. Keeping that clock display going takes power... Door hinges seem perfectly fine. Don't use on-board charging, so the battery gets swapped out tankly. (Ant time I change or refill a tank, I swap in a fresh battery.) Weak battery would / could apply if the battery doesn't have enough oomph to hit the set level - as a tootler I've never seen it :)

yes I have several of the Primo Minis and they have been great workhorses...

of many I have in rotation I do have ONE that shows 'weak battery' when my battery gets say below 60%

the silver and black ones are metal - the colored ones (blue/yellow/red) are plastic
it is a plastic red one of mine that shows weak battery - I flashed a new program in it from Joyetechs www and it did nothing for it :(

I have either a black one or a silver one in my hand all day long, every day - neither have let me down - I love them

I have 3 DNA75c mods (Therion and 2 Silo 75c I put together). The new interface is so much better. SBody seems to make pretty solid mods, better than HCigar and VapeCige. That's a great price for a DNA75c.

Aha! But would it make me Kay5 with a 1.3 Ω Kanthal coil vape any better? That is the question. I somehow can't get over that TC hump. I made a few ss coils, gave up. Should I try again? Is it really worth it for tootle puffers like me? I can wind Kanthal coils in my sleep--I know how I like them.

Thanks, Puf! I really like that silver one. I'm looking for a 25 mm mod--all I have is my old CoolFire 4. I just happened to win an OBS Engine Nano tank and I have no idea what I'm gonna do with it.

It is possible that many people sense the Jax as a bit higher priced. I actually found it interesting when comparing the numbers, so no, lovie, I didn't think you thought it unreasonable, but perhaps not even in the ballpark as contrasted to some others.

Nor have I ventured to the world of TC, and most likely will not. I like-a my Kanthal and my watts and as always, you'll find me tootling around 8.5 to 9.5w. Some of my more recent acquisitions do have TC on board, but I didn't buy them for that reason. It seems that most of our new gear just happens to come with it.

No more Lavabox, but I just saw this baby. Has it been discussed here yet? If not, any thoughts? Looks all itty bitty and comes with a DNA chip.

$68.32 Authentic VapeCige SD Nano 60 60W TC VW APV Mod - 1-60W / 200-600'F / zinc alloy / 1*18650 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

And it's a one-battery mod--I don't like those big 2- and 3-battery monsters.

LOL'ing as this turned out to be just the first of a shopping extravaganza.

@DPLongo22 had his eye on this, too (not sure if he still does). Looks like a good pastability to me. A bit wide in the middle, but that's certainly not a deal breaker for most.

Ya - I like the looks. Probably not a "buy" for me though, as the Picos are fitting the bill for when I need a "cigalike". Cute little buggers though, even if they are a bit on the chunky side. So am I, so...

I ADORE the Macro. (good sigh) Oh that they were $29.99 again...

If they'd just move the 510 connector SLIGHTLY in, they'd have had me long ago. No likey overhang, me.

This one's got "potential", definitely.

Altho, at the end of the day, I am more than happy to have my Jackies (JAC Series B mod) than any of these.

All day, every day. Best $68 I've ever spent. I've got lots of TC mods, but no TC interest. Good thing they all work wonderfully well in power mode. :)

Nice to see you, @pufZeppelin . You have "several" Primos, y'say? "Several". Mmm hmmm. ;)

Back to work, me.

I used to vape 1.2-1.5Ω kanthal builds. When I switched to Ni200 years ago, it was not all that painful. The build was very similar and after very minor tweaks, it just worked for me. Now there's Titanium and SS wire that's easier to handle so it's much easier to build (like kanthal). I build simple 5-7 wrap coils around a 2.5mm ID pin and come out to about .5Ω for SS and titanium. I just started using titanium and like it a lot. TP is not much different than kanthal. With DNAxxx chips, I set mine as Temperature dominate and set my power at 20-25w and adjust my vape by changing the temp (420°-460°).

All of this is much easier than it sounds. The DNA75c display allows for more (or less) info on your build and mod. There's a bunch of guys on the Evolv boards that have created some great themes that you can easily upload.

TP is safer for vaping. I used to get 1-2 burnt hits every week with kanthal. Now I get a burnt hit every other month. Usually because of a hot spot on a leg that TP can't deal with. I just rake the coil a couple of times and it's fixed.

I picked up a 25' spool of titanium (Temco) from Amazon for $5 shipped to try out. I might have to order more.

FYI - I paid $115 for my Therion 75c and just parts for my Silo75c's were over $90 each so the $65 for the SBody is a smokin' deal. The display is just awesome.

I wish I knew what I was doing that is so "right", but in six years of vaping, I can count the number of burnt hits on my fingers & toes (possibly even just the fingers).

I'm guessing I got more carcinogens than that (total) from the burger I ate last weekend.

I like 'em COOKED (oh, yes I do). Ground beef's a killer.

A burnt hit every other month? I do believe I've had far less than one per year over the last 6 years.

I DID encounter one this week tho. Somehow, mismanaged finger presses inadvertently switched my settings from power to the TC setting. I took a hit and almost fell over. Y U C K!! (and then some!!) Obviously, the wick is toast, as is the FULL tank of liquid I had just poured.

<insert BUMMER icon here>

Evidently that little switch to TC caused my wattage to jump to 75 (from my normal 9ish).

So, no. Nope nope nope. No TC fer me.

I might've been exaggerating with the once a week but it was usually when I was spacing out and forgot to fill the tank or when I get a hot leg on a coil. There were times where I went weeks or months w/o a burnt hit but it happens. My usual kanthal build was 1.2-1.5Ω and 10-15w so hardly a cloud chaser or high wattage vaper. The DNA200 and DNA250 mods I have were more for efficiency than power. I don't think I ever vaped more than 40w ever. I tried a build to vape 75-100w but it was no better than a 20w TP vape.

Same can happen with TP but much less often than with kanthal.
