I'm afraid that's not true around these parts. Spaghetti is just one of the many varieties of pasta regularly prepared & enjoyed here, and my Depression era parents (1st gen American) wouldn't have known "pretentious" if it knocked on their door (and brought a brochure).

Does one appeal to you more than the other? I guess if "indestructible" holds any value to you, the Aegis might be the better option. If strictly personal preference, I'd go with the personal preference.

Consider the Tesla Wye 85W. They are out of production I believe but might still be some around over your way. Mine has become my most used mod.

FYI: Although, most of the time made differently, especially in different countries - as such why the name is usually different - for different people . . . The first "Pasta" is usually Italian/Greek; the second "Spaghetti" (usually incorporating all Pastas/Noodles) USA, and third "Noodles" Asian . . . Just Sayin' . . .
