I ride the LIRR from Brooklyn twice a week, I never smoked on the train so I don't vape (maybe if I'm the only person in a train car though, I also definately have stealth vaped but not openly blown clouds.)
I do however vape on the platform, even with all of the no smoking signs everywhere, because vaping is not smoking.
Even though I don't smoke anymore I find it absolutely ridiculous that they banned smoking (cigs) on the train platforms, it is an outdoor place, no smoking in waiting rooms is acceptable but no smoking on an outdoor, open air platform is ridiculous to me, especially without enforcing it. There is never any security or police on those platforms, and the few times I have seen police they just disregarded the one or 2 people who were smoking, it is a joke and a waste of money to plaster 15 signs per train station.
